Why is it inappropriate to use profanity in school?

Profanity just means you do not know enough words to be able to say what you want without using curse words - an educated person can cut you down to nothing without saying one "dirty" word at all.

when guys cuss, they are probably just trying to be macho. really, they look stupid.
when girls, it makes them look extremely trashy, and tacky.

This is a question that has always confused people. Obviously, talking is not harmful by itself, so just saying a "bad" word cannot be harmful. However, many people are offended by cursing or swearing, so using "bad" language in front of someone else might offend them or make them angry. It is a fact that many people use "bad" language because they do not know enough different words to be able to express their emotions by using other words instead of the "bad" words. Usually, if you hear someone who swears or curses almost all the time, then that person is notwell-educated, and they do not know how to use other words to express emotion. You will have to make up your own mind about whether swearing or cursing is right or wrong. Most people feel that it is OK to let out a few curse words if you are by yourself and stressed out (like when you hit your finger with a hammer or drop something expensive and break it), but that you should not curse or swear in public. But is would also be smart to try and actually learn words to express yourself better and try not to say bad words when you do something like stabbing your toe. Try making it funny it might make the day seem better. say something like "MOMMY!" or "Ouchy!" in a weird high voice. Personally you don't really need to use bad words to say what ever. allot of times it's uncalled for and basically not good to joke about different words like Hell and Damn. It shouldn't be funny to joke about such a thing as Damnation nor should it be funny to joke about the Hell. Which to some people is the eternal place for all who have not followed God in there physical life time.

What do people think of ginger hair?

I think there are a few factors:

1. red hair is the rarest hair colour, and people are often intolerant of the unsual;

2. social learning - we see red haired children being bullied or victimised at school for their hair colour and we learn very early that red hair is associated with negative consequences

3. social definitions of what is attractive currently do not favour red hair - although there have been times when this has been challenged eg Julia Roberts was famous for her 'just the right shade of red' hair

OTHER ANSWERS:

I looked up on Google, and it said that it's a British thing, but I live in Ireland, a place noted for it's gingers, and people make fun of them here too. There are two gingers in my class. They are made fun of like EVERY DAY. It's not very fair.

If a baseball and a bat cost 1.10 together and the bat costs 1.00 more than the ball how much does the ball cos?

The ball has to cost $0.05, and the bat has to cost $1.05 because

A. $1.05 + $0.05 = $1.10

AND

B. $1.05 - $0.05 = $1.00

It is common for people who do not think through the problem to respond with $0.10, but this is incorrect because

C. Although $1.00 + $0.10 = $1.10,

D. $1.00 - $0.10 = $0.90, which is not $1.00 more, as required by the problem.

To solve the problem with algebra, it would look something like this:

Set up the equation:

x + ($1.00 + x) = $1.10

Collect like terms:

$1.00 + 2x = $1.10

Subtract $1.00 from each side of the equation to isolate the variable, x:

2x = $0.10

Solve for x:

x = $0.05

Check your work:

x + ($1.00 + x) = $1.10, so

$0.05 + ($1.00 + $0.05) = $1.10

Do the arithmetic:

$1.10 = $1.10, so the solution is valid.
