For how long have people been using the internet?

People began to commonly use the internet with the introduction of Windows 95 in 1995.

There was some demand for internet access in 1993 and 1994, which lead to the introduction of Windows 95. But Windows 3.11 was able to connect to the Internet via the "Winsock" programmes. These early programs were very difficult to use, and not for those who were unadventurous. Windows 95 was an operating system that was built with the internet in mind, contradicting earlier versions of Windows that were not friendly with the internet.

Electronic mail had also been in common use for some time before 1995 via services, such as CompuServe.

What are facts about computer hacking?

1. Hacking into other people's computers without their consent is against the law.

2. You shouldn't be hacking into other people's computers for the most part. Now if you work for law enforcement and it is part of your job, or you've been issued a consensual hacking challenge by the owner of the system you are going to hack, that is different.

3. There are forensic uses for hacking, though a warrant is usually required.

4. Patching the registry or files on your own computer can be called hacking, and that isn't illegal unless you do so as a part of software piracy.

5. Some hacking activities have valid uses, such as port probing. While it is considered a precursor to actual hacking, you can do that to your own computer or that of a client you are doing security consulting for to test for vulnerabilities. This can be compared to rattling door knobs and pushing at doors. A thief may check your door knob to see if you left the door unlocked so they can rob it, but you can check your own doors to make sure they are locked to prevent theft. The same goes for network hacking.

Where might you look on the internet on the good scientific information about an illness?

A regular internet search (like google or yahoo) will give you links to a good deal of information about an illness. It may also point you to a good deal of misinformation about the illness. You need to use your judgement to determine the good from the bad information and you most likely actually need to talk to a medical professional.

For the good scientific information you may also be able to access and browse on line versions of actual research journals from the medical and scientific associations (like JAMA, NEJM) though they are often not free.

What does evp stand for?

EVP stands for "Electronic Voice Phenomena". It is the process of recording audio on analog or digital recorders and hearing unexplained voices and sounds on playback. Often the sounds are quite low in volume and require some careful listening to even hear them. EVP enthusiasts classify their recordings from Class A to Class D. The Class A recordings are quite clear and understandable by most anyone. At the other end of the spectrum, Class D recordings are almost unintelligble to all but the most experienced EVP investigators. It is often claimed that it takes time to be able to hear the less obvious EVP recordings. The earliest EVP recordings were probably recorded in the late 19th century. It is unclear who first might have heard these sounds. Dr. Konstantin Raudive caused a clamor in Europe and later in England and the Americas when his book "Breakthrough!" was published in the late 20th century in English. Later EVP investigators included Raymond Bayless and D. Scott Rogo, who became famous for their studies of "telephone calls from the dead" and published a book by that name in the early 1970s. EVP should not be confused with Instrumental TransCommuncation (ITC). ITC is a general term for audio and video heard and/or seen in real-time with no playback required. Modern EVP uses computer and software technology to produce random noise of various kinds to enhance the recorded sounds. Similar techniques in ITC, leading to some of the confusion between the two. Skeptics claim that EVP (and ITC as well) is caused solely by paradolia, the human ability to find patterns in randomness. While this argument is convincing for EVP and audio ITC it is less convincing when applied to video ITC phenomena. The low levels, difficulty in hearing most EVP recordings and potential for misinterpretation suggests that the skeptical position is likely correct in many cases. Most EVP proponents would of course disagree.

How is SOS online backup service?

Data security is becoming more and more important. If you don't want to lose important documents in a system crash, vacation photos from the past few years, or your painstakingly created music collection, you can either make local backups or use convenient online services. A data backup on the Internet has several advantages:

  • You can access your data from anywhere in the world, which is especially useful for using mobile devices.
  • The service makes it easy for you to set up regular backups.
  • Your files are securely stored in a professional data center, in most cases the latter is protected against theft, fire or other sources of danger.

If in addition you have all your data in the cloud, you can be much more relaxed about the threat of ransomware (ransomware): your data is indeed stored securely in another place.

In recent years, more and more online backup service providers have appeared in the market. So that you know which of these providers is the right one for you, we show you several of them while highlighting the pros and cons of the offers and compare the different services.
