it depends, if your iPod is synced with a mac and you plug it into a PC and click restore , evrything will get deleted (EVERY THING!!)if you just restore on the computer it has already been synced to, its like a master reset but your music(pics,notes, etc.) should be fine .

if your iPod freezes don't restore unless it says to on the screen ; simply turn the hold on and then off then press the select(middle) button while pressing the menu button ; do that until the apple pops up on the screen . then it should either come back on or it should tell you to restore . =]

To format a Creative Zen is quite simple. Turn off you player. Then hold the play button and turn on your player. You will now see a menu that gives you options to format. After, select the option to reboot/ restart. There are other options to clean up and reload firmware.
