Where can you get blue prints for a JC Higgins semi auto 22 model 31 583-3100?

Gunparts Corp. has schematics and parts lists available for about one dollar. http://www.gunpartscorp.com/ See if the link at the right has a manual for your model >>>> http://www.histandard.info/manuals/sears/rfrifles/index.html

Is there any way to put a scope on a J C Higgins model 10318?

I am working on that as we speak. So far, its either going to be an "electronic" sight (no magnification) because of its location in front of the bolt...or its going to have to be a handgun scope with a LONG eye relief. I am also looking into the possibility of a raised dovetail mount that will attatch to the barrel (I have to get it drilled and tapped either way) and will raise the scope enough to clear the bold. Any of the above things i do to the 103.18 will cost me more than the rifle is worth but it has alot of sentimental value. will update later

How Much does a Ted Williams shot gun cost?

Which one? Sears sold a lot of different guns with Ted's name on them from 1961 to sometime in the 1980's. A semi-automatic will bring a lot more than a bolt action or a pump. There should be a Sears model number (usually 3 digits, a period, and 1 or more additional digits) that can usually be cross-referenced to a manufacturer's model.

What is the history and value of JC Higgins Model 25 Sears Roebuck and company 22 long rifle and about when was this rifle produced What information can I get about this 22 rifle Patent 583 2500?

Idunno the answer to yer question, but I have one too that was left to me by my late uncle who got it from yet another late uncle. Since it's been in the family forever, I thought I'd try to find out more about it too. Mine doesn't have a patent No. , It just says patent pending, so it must be older than yours. I hope someone's able to shed some insight on the guns for us. Mine has a scope on it and is in excelent condition; still shoots like brand new. Rick

Jc Higgins model 583.75?

You have not yet asked a question, but if your gun is a .22 auto with an overlapping 2 piece stock, and a retractable sling, these were made for Sears by the High Standard Company (and for no one else). Values run about $150.

How does one remove the trigger assembly on a JC Higgins Model 29 patent 2552429 with no apparent trigger pins or screws to remove?

The wooden forend on that gun extends back along both sides of the receiver. There is a big honking screw that goes through the wood and the receiver from left to right. Remove that screw and you will be able to remove the trigger group downward and rearward. Please be careful not to lose the disconnector from the right side of the trigger group. Do not dry fire the trigger group. In fact, my advice is not to attempt to disassemble the trigger group unless you are very familiar with that action. It is easy to take apart, but difficult to reassemble. sales@countrygunsmith.net

Where can you get a pistol grip for a j.c.higgins shotgun?

J C Higgins was the store brand for Sears. These guns were manufactured by Marlin. Contact Marlin.

Marlin made no shotguns for J C Higgins if the number begins with 101 that's the vendor code for Savage Stevens if its 583 than your gun was a House brand made by Sears /High Standard Sears owned High Standard in thouse days and all of the rifles and shotguns marked with 583 code were Sears product The J C Higgins brand owned the pattents for these guns parts can be found at Numrich arms Gun parts in West Hurley NY. I donot rcomend modifying a old J C Higgins what you probably don't know is that these guns are quite old they were made between 1945 and 1961 and these guns were never offered with short barrels and pistol grips barrels shorter than 18 and one half inch is a very serious violation of the Fedral Fire arms act with heavy fines and a Long prison sentence. It is also can be construed as violation of the same law to put a pistol grip on any shotgun not approved by BATF and originally designed to have one BE CAREFULL as none of the JC Higgins shotguns and rifles were designed or approved for such a modification . Many shotguns were mossberg 500 Remington 870 for example and even these as long as the serial numbers place their manufacture after 1985 any thing before that date is tricky Leave the JCH alone it not worth the trouble it will cause you

How do you find the model number on a 12 gauge shotgun?

Since you posted this under the JC Higgins topic I'd guess you found that name on the gun. Most Sears-sold firearms are marked with a "product code", usually 3 digits, a decimal point, and then 1 to 7 additional digits (123.45678). There are cross reference lists that will identify the manufacturer and model from these codes.

Where does the electoral number 538 come from?

The number 538 in the context of the Electoral College comes from the total number of electors in the United States, which is equal to the sum of the 435 representatives in the House, 100 senators, and 3 electors from the District of Columbia. The number of representatives is fixed by law at 435, while the number of senators is fixed at 100 (2 per state). Adding the 3 electors from D.C. brings the total to 538.

Where can you buy a stock for a 583.20 12 gauge?

My guess is you will need to buy another gun just like it, and have spare parts. I have a 583.19 that was my Dad's first gun, circa 1950's, and his Dad and I refinished the stock in the 1980's. Either someone will carve one up for you, or you will need to buy a whole shotgun. Mine has a beautiful and in-tect red-rubber and black phenolic pad on the end, I consider this to be the hardest part to replace. If your stock is still essentially "there", have it correctly refinished by a smith. If it is missing all together, I think you are going to be in the market for a whole gun, maybe one with bad rust or mechanicals so you can made one good one out of two abused ones. If you are doing it just to sell, don't bother, sell your good mechanicals, the market for these is sentimental only, unless you have one of the European rifles.
