How do you fill the radiator on a 1989 Jeep Cherokee?

8/1/09 - Using a funnel carefully pour 1 Gallon of Antifreeze & 1 Gallon of Distilled water into radiator reservoir on passenger side of engine compartment by the firewall. It is make of semi-clear plastic, and has a black cap on it. Remove the upper radiator hose on the passenger side and carefully pour 1 Gallon of Antifreeze and 1 Gallon of Distilled water into it using a funnel. The reason you fill it from both places is that the thermostat does not allow water into the radiator or all of the engine block. Be sure to check the temperature and coolant level after driving the vehicle. Add coolant to the radiator reservoir as needed.

There is no knock sensor on a 94 4L jeep engine. In 1991 when they changed to the 4L HO motor, they removed the knock sensor from the system.

Where is the inertia switch 1998 Jeep Cherokee?

Your turn signal switch is located on the steering column underneath the plastic shroud. You will need to take off the steering wheel and partially disassemble the column to access this. This is a Mopar part number 56007255.

How do you remove the Yoke nut on a 1999 Cherokee rear Differential?

I'm not positive, but you might take a look at the threads protruding from the nut to see if it is reverse threaded. I know a lot of pinion gears have a reverse thread on them. This would mean you would turn your wrench clockwise to loosen the nut. If you can't see the thread, check with your parts supplier to see if it is a reverse thread.

What would cause a 1988 Cherokee to fire by not start?

I had this happen to me and it was the resister connectors , could be the resistor itself, 92 had it mounted on left front fender near top, it gets weather in on it and the wires corrode in their covers.

Why won't your turn signals work on your 2000 Jeep Cherokee No blown fuses and all lites work?

If you have a trailer hitch electrical plug, check the connection for a cut or broken wire. Also look for bulbs that may be damaged or plugged in wrong, and sockets that may be damaged or have a connector that has crossed to the ground.

Can you use 1997 Jeep Cherokee doors on your 1996 Jeep Cherokee?

The center console will more than likely fit. However, i believe the door panels will be different. the switches have different wiring and buttons may be slightly off. grand Cherokees switched the interior styling in 96. it is hit or miss, but most things are compatible.

How many miles does a 1993 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 get?

Not really. A properly maintained car can last up to 300,000 miles. The general rule for buying car's is not to buy them if they have over 100,000 miles. As long as you maintain your Jeep, you should be worry free for at least three years or even up to five before you have to fix something big. As for the price, it depends on the year and the mileage. The value of a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a V6 engine and 60,000 miles is about $7,000.

Where is the crank shaft sensor in 2004 jeep gran Cherokee?

Don't know the vehicle in detail but the sensor can only be either round or next to the front crankshaft pulley or on round the flywheel, perhaps on the bell housing? the crankshaft sensor for a Jeep 2000 is located behind the starter you have to remove the starter to replace it Tommy :-)

How much does it cost to replace lower ball joints on a jeep Cherokee?

I just did my own ball joints the other day. I paid about $70 each at garage cost here in Canada. I would estimate the labour to be roughly 3 hours times the door rate which varies from shop to shop. Since you have to remove the wheel bearing/hub assy., it might be a good idea to buy a couple of wheel bearings too. There shouldn't be any extra labour charge to replace these since they have to take them off to do the ball joints. And if you really want to spend money you can replace the brake pads and maybe the rotors too......that's right.....since they have to take them off to do the ball joints. Have fun.

How do you install a internal slave cylinder on a jeep Cherokee?

Purchase a repair manual (by Chilton or Haynes). You can find them at book stores and most auto parts stores for $20.00. This is a MUST have for any Jeep owner.

This is very true. On a V8 5.2 litre you must also be very carful when placing the transmission back onto the engine that you watch out for the crankshaft position sensor. It is very easy to break off.

How is a freeze plug replaced in the back of the head on a 1999 Jeep Cherokee 4.0?

I wouldn t recommend trying this yourself. Find a guy with a hoist to get vehicle up in the air. And instead of putting in a typical frost plug, although inexpensive to purchase, would be difficult to put in with rust and cleaning and pressing in. Just go to auto parts store and purchase a block heater. this has rubber expandable gasket. May even find that type of frost plug. In Canada, another block heater is the answer. Cheers.

Where is the fuse panel for the brake lights located on a 1999 Jeep Cherokee?

The fuse for the brake lights is in the engine compartment fuse box, located behind the battery. Open the lid. Several fuses are marked but many are not. There is a group of 12 fuse sockets in the middle of the panel, arranged in 3 rows and 4 columns. The brake light fuse is in row 2, column 2. It powers left, right and middle brake lamps. If your brake switch fails in the ON position, you can pull this fuse until you can get a replacement switch. The drain of these lights being on can kill your battery overnight. Do not drive car without brake lights!

Answerthe fuse panel is located behind the kick panel on the pass side, just below the dash.(to the right of where your feet sit in the floor board) there is also another power distribution panel under the hood next to the battery. Answerthere is no fuse marked brake lights on jeep cherokee's if you have no brake lights and all bulbs are good your problem is the brake switch mounted on your brake pedal, about 30 bucks.

How many miles is expected on a Jeep Cherokee inline 6?

Impossible to answer, without knowing how well it has been maintained all of these years. I have a 1989 Cherokee. With reasonable maintenance (oil changes every 4k to 8k miles), I have 249,000 original miles on her. No transmission issues or heavy engine work. Just the normal water pumps, fuel injectors, etc. issues. Maintenance and driving conditions play a HUGE factor in vehicle longevity, as well as intervals between major mechanical breakdowns. As far as I have experienced, and from what I have heard reported from other Jeep owners, this vehicle is by far one of the hardest cars to 'kill'. It just keeps on running and running.....

Where is the crank or cam shaft position sensor located on a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

How do you replace a turn signal switch on a 1995 Jeep Cherokee Sport?

First, remove the plastic cover from the steering column - this has three Torx (i.e. star drive) screws beneath the column and consists of two pieces.

The turn signal assembly is bolted onto the column with two Torx tamper-proof screws that require a special tool. I recommend getting a small set of Torx tamper-proof bits that can be connected to adapter handle or electric driver - this will be cheaper than buying a set of screwdrivers.

Remove the two mounting screws and then unscrew the electrical connector and pull it out of the slot.

Replace in reverse order.

1999 Jeep Cherokee losing antifreeze?

the jeep should hold only half of water and half antifreeze. If it still leaks than you should replace the housing that holds the antifreeze and you can always get it cheaper at the salvage yards.

you might want to check the water pump. look for a leak just under the pump. either the seal or a small hole in the housing. if the leak is out of the hole then replace the pump.

that is my guess cause there needs to be more info on problem.

  • Agree that more info is required for a reasonable answer. Typically leaks toward the front of the engine bay can be as simple as a loose clamp, a hole in a coolant hose, leak from the radiator, etc... depends upon just where it is dripping. Leaks toward the middle or rear of the engine bay can be from a loose clamp, loose intake manifold bolts, blown head gasket, leaky freeze plugs, etc.
