How do you replase the Throttle Position Sensor in a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Just replaced mine. This is simple. Cost $50 at the auto parts store. Also easy to find on the throttle body. The sensor is the top one located on the throttle body. The lower one is the IAC (Idle Air Control). The TPS is held on with two screws, probably the torx head type. guessing T-20 in size. Remove electrical connector and the two screws and remove. Installation is opposite in order. If your check engine is on after you replace the sensor, disconnect the negative battery post and let it sit for ten plus minutes for the computer to reset itself. Good luck.

How do you change the ignition key tumbler on a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

The same thing happenned to me yesterday on my '99 Grand Cherokee. The ignition key would not turn. Tapping the end of the key with a hammer while jiggling and turning worked as a temp fix.

The dealer quoted me over $200 - that is CRIMINAL! An Auto Locksmith Service quoted me $125 plus parts - better, but still expensive.

I'm not a mechanic. In fact I disdain working on cars. But to save money, today I took off the steering column cover (one Phillips screw underneath the steering column) and figured out how to take out the ignition key tumbler. It's really easy if you can get the key to turn. On the underside of the tumbler there is a square spring loaded "button" that holds the tumbler in. Once the key is turned part way, just press the button and the key will pull out with the tumbler attached. This whole procedure including figuring it out took under 10 minutes.

Since I only had access to one vehicle, I put the tumbler back in and drove to a locksmith. Then I took the tumbler out again in the parking lot. The locksmith (All-Safe Locksmith in Sacramento, CA) rebuilt my ignition tumbler in about 5 minutes. He charged me $8. That's right EIGHT DOLLARS!

I asked the locksmith what causes this problem. He said "bad design."

What could be causing a high idle in a Mazda rx7?

1. Check for vacuum leaks

2. Check to make sure the cold idle screw is not set really high(That's a cause of unknown high idles and why people can't get the car to idle down."

3. TPS sensor could be going out but if already replaced... You need to do a base idle reset.

4. If you are using low grade, cheap gas like 87 or 89 octane, you need to step it up and use the 91 or 93 like the car suggests. I made the same mistake and not my car runs great.

5. Check for positive battery connection. My battery cable is going extremely crappy and when your volts dont run where it should be, the computer runs an rpm increase to prevent your car from dying and all other problems arise then.

When changing a Jeep Cherokee Rear Sway bar link is there spring tension on it that I should be aware of before unbolting it Should the car be on the ground or jacked up off the ground on axle stand?

If the Jeep is setting level there should be no tension on the rear sway bar. Also, it should not matter if the Jeep is on the ground. The sway bars on the Jeep Cherokee simply pass through a bushing and transfer force through leverage from one side to the other. hth

How do you override security system on 95 jeep grand Cherokee limited edition?

There is a plug in "black box" under your dash that can be unplugged to totally disable the alarm system. The remote clicker should still work but the factory alarm will not. Nothing else will be affected. You'll have to get a flashlight and look under there but the box in question does have a sticker on it that clearly says "alarm/security" on it.
