There hasn't been an "official" story given to this, but I did find an old John Deere ad mentioning the green and gold livery as being "as familiar as the green of cornstalks and the gold of ripened grain". Another possibility is that, in 1918, they bought out a rather popular manufacturer of tractors called Waterloo Boy, which used green and yellow, and that became their livery.

It sounds like you might have an overfuel problem. Check your air filter for dirt it might be plugged or your choke might be stuck.

SAE10w30 any major brand synthetic.

It's not even worth trying. The pressure in the cylinders during compression will blow away any gasket sealant. The ONLY way is to remove the head, have it resurfaced then put it back together. NO IT WON'T only thing that will help is a new gasket set ( I KNOW DAMET )

If you did not start the engine no harm has been done. Drain the fuel tank, and all the fuel lines. Get as much of the gas out as possible. Fill it up with diesel and you should be ok.

the john deere x9 is the largest combine harvester in the industry it has 690 engine horsepower

S/N is located on support bracket for lift arm on right side. Engine p/n on gas engine is behind/below oil filter.

That gator is an '06 or an '07. It was sold in plano texas in february of 2007.

The lever should be attached to the carberetor by a cable. It may be possible to replace this cable with a longer one, but if so, it will allow you to run the engine a lot harder than it was designed for. You can wreck your engine this way (potentially in a spectactular and hopefully not life threatening way) in addition to voiding any warranty you may have.

If you do wreck your engine, most likely you will hear a loud *clank* and the engine will stop instantly. The engine will need *major* work done to it to bring it back to life, assuming it's worth the expense. I really don't recommend 'overclocking' your engine.

Whatever you can get for it. They usually sell for around $2000 to $2600 in fair to good condition. Some in real good condition will sell for $3000 or more.

One of two possibilities for black smoke and not re-starting: (1) the spark plug is fouled and not providing full ignition to the gasoline thereby allowing the engine to flood = nned to clean or change the spark plug (2)carburetor needs adjustment(s) = the float may be stuck in the open position; the linkage may be off and not allowing choke to open clompletely; the needle valve(s) may have vibrated to a more open position.

The retainig ring has "tabs" that protrude above the groove where the ring fits. You may be able to grasp one or both tabs with needle-nosed pliers and remove the ring.

the filters are available at most home stores there are two different heights of filter get the same one you have, i would stick to my engine type filter, i.e, if it's a Briggs by a Briggs filter, but they are all about the same, as far as the oil usually above forty degrees a hd30 weight oil is recommended, unless you have a kohler ohv , these have hydraulic lifters and require 5w-30

Remove the 2 bolts under seat that are holding seat springs. Remove steering wheel bolt and steering wheel. Take the top cover off and pull over steering rod, should be 6 screws holding it on. Now u can get to the 6 bolts that are holding green frame on from the inside bottom, remove 6 bolts then you can lift and prop the frame up from the back...the tank will then lift right out..!
