What are the good posture while typing?

It is because it is more taxing to your body if you don't have good posture while typing. It is a great habit to have especially when you type for long hours and when you type the "right" way since it will really help you progress in your quest for speed. Plus, you can get pretty tired when typing incorrectly (I learned this the hard way).

What can make typing more efficient?

  • Choose the right typeface at a good size, years ago the suggestion for longer texts was a serif font (such as Times New roman or Garamond) I'm not absolutely sure that is an iron-clad choice today!
  • Do not mix too many type faces in a document (three is usually enough)
  • Put enough 'air' (empty space) around the text with appropriate distance between lines (usually line spacing of one and a half times the font height is good) margins and space before and after paragraphs
  • Make sure your paragraphs are not too long
  • Add illustrations
  • Structure your document with headers (three or four levels is often sufficient)

What does the return key have on it?

right above the shift key, go to the complete upper left hand corner (on mine it's the eject button) then go directly down, first you'll reach delete, then \, then return!! :D

The 'Return ' key is the same as the 'Enter' key. It is to the right of the main alphabetic keys and usually larger and of a strange shape.

The term 'Return' is used in the context of 'word processing', this key replaced the carriage return of an old typewriter. When used, it finishes that tine of text and returns the input to the next line down and to the left of the page.

Not everyone wants to use a word processor, so the same key is used for data entry. The same key when used in other applications, usually finishes that process and gets ready for the next data entry.

Proper position of fingers in the keyboard?

Proper Keyboarding Posture

Ergonomics is the science concerned with designing safe and comfortable machines for humans. Following these rules will increase your speed and accuracy at the computer.

Proper Height of Your Keyboard. If it is too high, you will have trouble reaching some of the keys. If it is too low, your shoulders and arms will become tired.

Proper Distance from the Keyboard. Known as hand-span. Hand-span tells you how far you should sit away from your keyboard. If you sit too far away, you will not be able to reach the keys above homerow. If you sit too close, you will not be able to reach the keys below homerow.

Feet Flat on the Floor. They help balance your body for keyboarding. Crossing your ankles or knees puts a strain on your spine.

Sitting Up Straight. By doing this, it helps you keep your spine straight and comfortable as well as

provide balance.

Proper Wrist Position. Don't raise your palms so much that your wrists arch. Maintaining proper wrist

position helps avoid fatigue in your hands. If you wrists rest on your keyboard, this will cause you to

make typing mistakes.

Elbows In. Keeping your elbows close to your sides prevents your fingers from coming off home row.

When your fingers come off home row, you then have trouble striking the other keys from home position.

Eyes on Copy. If you don't keep your eyes on what you are typing, you will lose time from speed, you

may also type the wrong line, skip words or even repeat a line.

Fingers Anchored. While typing, you need to keep your fingers anchored on the homerow keys.

When you reach for a key on the top or bottom row, you need to remember to bring your fingers back to

the homerow position.

How do you make bullet points on your keyboard?

Look in Start Menu / Programs / Accessories / System Tools and run the program "Character Map". It'll show hidden character like "bullets". You can copy them from Character Map and paste into your document. Some will have "Keystroke" code you can use to type the character. For instance, hold the ALT key and (on the numeric keypad) type "0169" for the Copyright Symbol. ©

I've found the bullets way down in the list on most fonts, but they don't have a keystroke code. What I've done in Word is add them to the proofing feature in word. Just like when you type two minus signs (--) Word replaces them with a dash. So, when I type "ds", Word replaces it with a small bullet dot. If I type db I get a larger bullet dot.

How do you make faces with a keyboard?

There are many inventive sequences which can produce 'faces'. Due to the way characters follow along a line of text, almost all examples are produced on their side and are best viewed from the side.

Examples are -

: ) which is a smiley face

; ) which is a winking smiley face

d:-p which is a boy wearing a cap and sticking his tongue out

There are lots more - have a go yourself by looking at each keyboard character and imagine what facial feature it might represent. Remember that it is how it looks from the side.

Many more shapes can be found in the numerous different fonts available. An example - use c for a bump on the top of a head or 8 for a pair of specs.

The list of possibles is only restricted by your imagination
