Are you sure the plug is cracked? Mine was being blamed on a cracked plug but what it was the boot on #4 plug was carbonized causing a small black line down the plug.if I changed the plug it would run good for a week or so then miss again.I changed #4 plug wire (boot under coil) and the problem stopped.
Read your driver's manual for kind. If you really meant what brand, vs. what kind, I find many of the "big name" filters are crap. Full of cotton waste, seeds and all. Made in India or Bangladesh to be nothing but cheap, cheap, cheap.
About the best ones I've cut apart are Wix brand from NAPA. Advance Auto Parts had a house brand that also had very good insides, but they seem to be discontinuing them. Too bad. The orange brand and the national oil companies' branded filters seem to all be garbage inside. Just because they have television commercials doesn't meat they're worth two cents.
Go to Kia.com and click on kia owner. You have to register. It has about everything you need to know. Also you can find the wiring schmatic.
please don't think i am being smart but Very carefully. the hardest are the dual cams on top ,aline the 2 notches at 12.00,NOw this is simpler said than done, you are fighting the cam springs SOooo, keeping them at 12
:00 is the real fun.I take 2 ratchet wrenches and 2 sockets and set them so they are hard on when against the springs at 12:00.This takes some practice and then anchor them to each other to keep them from moving. This is an excellent time to replace the water pump,as much trouble as it is to set the timing, change the water pump while you are right there. $ 55.00 beats $450.00 when you are on vacation three months after you changed timing belt and it WILL go bad ! been there done that. once you have accomplished that feat, the crank neads to be set on its mark with #1 at TDC.install new belt around tensioner and that shiny new water pump ,crank etc. NOw comes more fun, try to keep the cams absolutely still when you let the tensioner tighten against the belt throwing one cam off by one knotch. It can be done. try again. And again. When you thin k your good take off wrenches and turn engine over by hand bringing timing marks back on line .Ask yourself "do they still line up ? Remember do not over tighen tensioner belt tightener force, let the spring do the tightening,if you don"t trust the spring or it seems to stick get a new spring and slider piece. Otherwise you will have put it ALL back together and running and your wife will ask " why is it making that whining noise ?" " it didn"t before ! " and you will get to take it all apart again just to readjust the tensioner. pleasant dreams, from one mechanic to another.
I found some general advice for depresurizing the fuel line - pull the fuse for the fuel pump and then crank the engine a few times. Find the schrader( tire) valve on the fuel rail at the engine intake and using a rag to soak up the gas and care not to spray in your eyes press in on the valve as if you were leting air out of your tires.
Look under the dash on the passenger side
i INSTALLED THE TIMING SPROKETS UPSET DOWN AND IT SEEMS TO CRANK AND RUN NOW, HOWEVER I STILL HAVE A MISS TO IT AND WILL POST MORE LATER. I ALSO HAVE PLENTY OF PARTS FOR THIS VEHICLE IF YOU NEED ANY.
The 1999 Kia spark plug gap setting is .035. Most spark plugs will be pre-gapped by the spark plug manufacturer.
take the old one out and take it with you to the junk yard ,make sure the #'s match cost about $ 100.00 there, dealer $ 1000.00 !
Where do you find power train control module on a 1996 kia sportage

replace main engine relay, see if problem goes away.check that round button dimmer switch on left side of steering wheel dash, they usually get cold solder joints and just quit giving no lights but if it shorted out it could go the other way.
Hi I have a 1999 kia sportage it has no power under acceleration. but run fine in park and when you get up to speed.
A damaged catalytic converter can do that.
The hold light comes on when you accidentally hit the hold button on the transmission shifter. If you are not able to make "hold" button go off you will have to replace the transmission computer located under dash ,driver side.
They cost about $ 100.00 at junk yard. New from Kia $ 1,000.00. So, go to a junk yard ,take the one out of your car with you to match up the numbers written on the box.
Sounds as though it could be a few areas to look at, 1. check that it is not the bulbs, (access through rear plastic compartments inside car). 2. check that the fuse for reverse tail lights is not blown (front fuse panel next to accelerator pedal)and 3. try to remove the cover plate or sleeve around gear stick as there is a small switch that activates lights when put into reverse (may have dislogded the wiring). Hope this helps.
the vent is thru the carbon canister. Mine was plugged. It is a black box located under the back bumper. It has the charcoal canister and purge valve in it.
Passenger side under neath A/C compressor, you have to access it from under neath car. Remember to use jack stands for safety.
The button on the side of gear shift has been depressed! This holds transmission in lower gear and should not be used under normal driving!
This is most lilkely the sound of one of the piston connecting rods trying to get out of the engine block. Give it some time and it will exit the block of its own accord. Seriously, get your car checked by a professional.
get the instructions from the after market company you purchased it from. They usualy have all that info.
