That is an oxygen sensor, it tells the computer how rich or lean the engine is running on bank 1. The computer uses this info to control how much fuel the engine gets.

I just completed the replacement. The filter is located under the master cylinder. Replacement is fairly simple. Remove the top of the air filter box and it's connections to the throttle body. The top of the filter has a plastic housing that lifts off. Examine the new filter and note how it has slots for the plastic housing. Then carefully pry the filter so that the metal clips release the plastic housing. The top fuel line easily slides off. The bottom fuel line requires two wrench's to remove it One to hold the not on the bottom of the filter and another to remove the nut attached to the fuel line. Fuel filter is held to the car by a bracket. This requires a socket wrench to remove two bolts. Remove the filter and bracket. Remove the bracket from the old filter and reuse on the new filter. Note the orientation before removing it. The top of the old fuel filter has a plastic clip that is reused on the new filter. Use two small slotted screwdrivers between the metal tubing and clip to slide it over the tubing flange and reinstall on the new filter. Reassemble in reverse. It's much easier. Total time was 30 minutes

Check brake linings - maybe need replacement

There is a small plstic cover over the bulb housing with two screws. Remove both screws, pop off the cover and expose the burned out bulb. You will just need to pull on the bulb. I suggest you pull carefully so as not to break it, but it is just a slip in so keep pulling until it releases. By the way the replacement bulb is a size 168.

i have a 95 es300 but it doesnt jerk when i change gears when i ride it jerks but i found out it was a motor mount front motor mount which will cost bout $112 to replace but if when you change gears it could be your transmission slipping that cant be goo but check your motor mounts first....

There are two fuse panel locations in the 1997 es 300.

One is behind the driver's side instrument panel, which you can take out to get to the fuses, and the other is under the hood. Pop open the hood. It'll be right next to the battery. It'll have a narrow cover on top of it, you can't miss it.

Annoyingly, the owner's manual doesn't say which fuse does what, so don't bother looking for it there.
