I have the 95 model of the sc300 so I don't know if it's exactly the same or not...I can only imagine though, that it is very close. There are three screw studs behind the covering in the trunk. On the passenger side tail light I found it also helps to un-bolt the trunk lock. It takes a 10 mm wrench or socket for both the nuts on the studs and the bolt for the trunk lock. There is one stud just under the lock on the passenger side tail light and then the other two are located at the far end of the tail light just above where the disc changer eject button is. I also found that if you push on the single stud, while pulling on the end of the light assembly with the two studs it helps to get the entire assembly out. After that it's a matter of finding the light that is out by twisting, counter clockwise, to unlock each light assembly from their individual hole.

You would use R-12.

Not to discourage you but I recently changed my wires twice in the last year. If you still have the factory wires they should pull right off, I have the SC400 which should be similar. You have to remove the spark plug wire covers this may require disconnecting some vacumn hoses so remember to mark both ends to ease in the replacement. You will have to remove the peice of plastic that covers the distibutor. I recommend replacing on spark plug at a time so the the wire don't get out of order. When you first go to pull off a plug wire rotate it clockwise about a 1/4 of a turn then pull it off. This help break the seal. The new plugs are gapped at the factory so unless you see damage to the protective cardboard you should be ok. The recommended installation is to start them without the ratchet run them all the way in by hand to prevent cross threading. After they seat turn them 1/2 turn by ratchet. Good luck. Go ahead and spend an extra $30 and get the BorgWarner wires for $90 you will be glad you did.

1995-2002 requires Premium Unleaded. 2003 requires Regular Unleaded.

It's best to do because you have to have the front and top of the engine apart so might as well do it while it's apart.

The 1997 Lexus sunroof fuse is located in the fuse box. The sunroof fuse will be one of the bottom four fuses, in the second column.

There is 3 bolts and the hose lines which need to be removed after removing fan belt

In the trunk, pick up the carpeted panel and under there is the spare tire, jack, and tools.

Are you sure it is the A/C Compressor and not the power steering pump?

LS400, SC 300 and SC 400 are known to have power steering pump issues that leak onto the compressor causing ac compressor failure.

Replace the pump as soon as you see a leak.

The fuel pump ecu is located behind the plastic panel in the back on the driver's side beneath the back window. It's held in by one bolt and a wiring harness it's fairly easy to install and will save you some money, rather than taking it to the dealership.

All according to how extensive work needed, 2 distrubutor caps, 2 rotors, if it need new wires? plugs plus the time to take everything off just to get to the parts, probably a few hundred dollars.

If you're speaking of oil, it would have to be burning it and your car would have a lot of smoke coming from the rear while driving/.

All you need to do is push down the plastic cover at the bottom of the shifter, where the leather ends, it wont come out just push down and youll find two Phillips screws take them out and the shifter knob can then be pulled up there is nothing to disconect so don't worry.

**just make sure that when your doing this its in NEUTRAL. (That's the secret!)

8 spark plugs, 2 distributer cap and rotors, should inspect belts and change them if necessary,[ maybe ]spark plug wires, and air filter, change oil and oil filter..

First drive your villager's front wheels on ramps. chock rear tires. There may be some plastic shields you need to remove (mine lost most of them on the passenger side). Place a jack with a wooden block underneath the crankshaft pulley (please investigate if it causes any damage). I only made sure the jack kept the engine at the height it was and made sure it didn't move more than an inch or two. Loosen the engine mount bolts. Then remove cross-member. This one's tricky, I had to use an offset box wrench to reach the rear bolts because there are some gas lines in the way. Cross member is a tad heavy being underneath the vehicle, you may want to use a second jack to ease down the cross-member while removing/jiggling the bolts for the mounts. Reverse process to finish install. Good luck!

It's a common problem for early 90's sc400 & ls400. A manufacturing company, Cardone, used to rebuild them and wholesale them to auto-parts stores, where you could pick them up for $60. But either they are too old now and no longer in demand or Lexus has convinced Cardone to stop offering them at 94% less than a dealer charges because Cardone no longer rebuilds them.

Your cheapest route is to find a used one and hope it works. Call salvage yards first if you want. But, older sc400 and ls400 are hard to find in salvage yards. I ultimately got mine off eBay for a total of $50. It was pulled from a 92 ls400 in a salvage yard in Los Angeles. You don't need the whole housing (cast aluminum stuff), all that goes bad is the sensor on top. I found a lot of auctions selling the big part with the sensor on it. I repeat- all you need is the sensor. You may be able to save a few bucks bidding on the auction with only the sensor because the others bidding on the complete unit may think they need the complete unit.

It's simple to change. Three screws on top, unplug the wire, and pull it out. Pull yours to look at it so you know what your looking for. You can cross-reference any Lexus V-8 from early 90's. That's the sc400 & ls400. They have the same motor, 1UZ-FE. Try using these key words on eBay or Google to help you find one: mass air sensor, mass air meter, intake air meter (sensor), 1uz-fe mass, 22204-42011, & FMZ3AYY2.

All I have heard is to replace it.

It's under the dash, on passenger side, all the way under where your feet would be next to fire wall.

The battery is located under the hood on the passenger side, near the firewall.
