It doesn't perform better than 87, and will not be good enough for an engine designed for premium.

Define "high performance". All SC400s are automatic transmissions, and have a V8 engine. Some people do like the extra power as compared to the I6 engine in the SC300. However, the SC300 is available in a 5-speed manual version (although it is very rare). The 5-speed is more fun to drive, in my opinion.
Both of these cars are quite heavy (SC300 has a 3600 lb. curb weight, and the SC400 is even more), so they are not exactly 12-second 1/4 mile cars. They take premium grade gasoline.
Really, you would have to drive one to decide whether this car meets your definition of "high performance".

How do you remove the radio from a 1992 Lexus ES300?
remove the plastic piece just above cup holder. It just snaps into place and can be pulled out by hand. This exposes two screws that hold bottom of radio assembly. In side the a/c vent just above the a/c control panal there are two small metal snaps. Yoy can use a screwdriver to push them out of the way to expose the top two screws that hold the radio assembly. It took a bit of prying but I removed the a/c vent which made removal and reinstallation easy.
