There may be a knock sensor malfunction causing the engine timing to change. This happened to me a couple of times. You can replace the sensor yourself if you don't mind some scraped knuckles, or you can get a mechanic to do it.

I would suggest buy a book on your car at the auto parts store for about $20-it wil help with all repairs and maintenance for your car

I have a 1996 Lincoln and the way i changed the Vss is removed the front driver side tire and u should be able to find it it is hard to see it . My car has a AX4n transmission. it is little hard to get your hand in there but i was able to replace.

It seems that the car shifts smother now.

that depends on where you get it, try the local junk yard first and see if they have anything that you like, that is going to be your best bet because the dealer is going to want a arm and a leg but you can always ask.

You can unlock the doors manually if you turn the key far enough. You can then open the hood and provide power to the vehicle with jumper cables and a donor car. If all else fails you can jack the vehicle up, support it on a jack-stand, and attach a red jumper cable to the starter positive red cable where it connects to the starter and then attach black cable to any metal place on the engine. You can use this procedure to charge the battery with either a battery charger for jumper cables from a donor vehicle.

I believe the Lincoln used a Ford C6 transmission and had a drain plug on the rear of the pan. But with a car that old I would think you should at least change the filter. In which case you would need to remove the oil pan to get to the filter. Unless it was recently rebuilt it probably leaks fluid so I would go to NAPA auto parts and ask for a small repair kit for that model trans and replace the seals on the dip stick, tail shaft and shift shaft. On second thought, unless you are a mechanic, take it to reputable tranny shop. It will be cheaper in the long run.

GENTLY!. You will have to pry up wood grain panel on window switch, cheapest way is to visit local junkyard and scavenge the switch, 2 bucks, but if the wire between the door and front end is cracked inside the accordion tubing you ll spend extra time replacing it. Good Luck.

A 1996 Lincoln will leak oil if the gaskets or seals have began to break down. This is common with older vehicles as the seals only last 10 to 15 years.

Don't forget the basics :

Oil filter gasket , oil pan drain plug , etcetera

1) Gather all key fobs you want to program to your car. (I suggest buying used fobs from a salvage yard. Ford charges around $40-80 for a new one; a scam many people fall for. Most any similar-looking Ford/Lincoln/Mercury/Mazda fob will work. Maximum 4 fobs per vehicle.)

2) Get in the car, and insert the key.

3) In 10 seconds or less, rotate the key back and forth from Off to On eight times, leaving the key On the eighth turn. The doors will lock and unlock to signal Programming Mode.

4) Press a button; any button, on the fob. The doors will again lock and unlock to signal that the fob has been programmed successfully. Do this for each fob in 20 seconds or less.

5) Turn the key Off. The doors will again lock and unlock to signal that Programming Mode has been turned off.

Now test each fob to ensure it works. If any fobs do not work, you will have to repeat the process for *all* fobs.

It is located in the trunk up underneath the rear speakers. There should be a few clips and 2 nuts holding that panel up. It is stored where the factory amps are and if your car HAD a phone where that module is too.

It is important to check and maintain the fluid levels while owning a car. The transmission dipstick of a 1993 Ford Probe is located behind the engine, to close to the firewall and it has a yellow cap.

Pull the fuel supply from the fuel distributor (fuel body) and place the end in a suitable container, preferable a glass mason jar, and run the engine for ten seconds. Call the dealer to get a fuel volume measurement to determine if your pump is delivering properly. You may also need to replace your fuel filter, or filters, as there may be more than one.

You may also have a vacuum leak. Open the air intake, and with the engine running, prepare to cup your had over the opening. When it begins to bog down, try restricting the airflow into the engine. If the engine surges (revs back up),l then you need to look for the source of your vacuum leak.

Thermostat housing is part of expansion (overflow) tank - remove bolts for tank & stat is behind it on intake manifold.

Well, it can happen if the rubber joints are worn and its metal on metal or the a bad shock absorber, so you have to check their status also you have to check when exactly it happens, (ex. If you are full steering to one of the sides and you can hear a sound so its the steering stopper bolt only) but generally you can clean the car with high pressure water from under to get rid of mud and oil then lift it and check for loosen bolts, then go over all the rubber parts with rubber grease (don't use normal grease it will destroy the rubber parts)

The firing order of a 1970 Lincoln Continental is 1, 5, 4, 2, 6, 3, 7, 8. You can find a diagram of the leads in a service manual, available through dealerships as well as at many public libraries.

most electrical fuel pumps work that way. it prevents the engine from flooding. also when you run out of gas, you no longer have to crank the engine to get it started again. all you do is turn the ignition to the on and off position 5 or 6 times and the gas reaches the intake. once the engine is running, the fuel pump continues to run and feed fuel to the engine to keep it running. frank t ( a car nut )

Depends on what year it is.. I have a 2001, you have to remove the dust cover, the black plastic piece at the front of the car, under the hood. It lifts straight off, no bolts holding it in place. At each headlight, there are two adjusters, one for up and down, the other for left and right. You will need a 4mm wrench to make the adjustments.
