Can someone be convicted of possession when said person receives a legal prescription but did not have the drugs in the orange bottle from the pharmacy on her person at the time of arrest?

Yes ... and here's why. Prescription drugs are only issued to the person for whom they were prescribed. They need to remain in the original container just for the common sense of identification on what is inside the bottle or package. Federal law prohibits the use of prescribed drugs by someone other than for whom the drug was prescribed, so without knowing to whom the drugs were prescribed (information on the original bottle) the authorities may assume it has been stolen and/or ask for proof that the medicine is indeed yours ... again, the proof is on the original bottle ... without that, what else can they do ... you have no proof positive ... ! The "what else" they can do is retrieve medical records, prescription reports, and speak directly to the physician which prescribed the medicine in the first place, can they not? What if a prescription bottle gets wet and unreadable or damaged? The bottle itself cannot be the only proof positive.

AnswerThe above is an opinion. In the US generally the drinking age is 21, in the UK it is 18 in public though if eating a meal you can drink at 16 and if at home you can drink from the age of 5. In most of Southern Europe there is no minimum drinking age, and you often see toddlers with a drop of wine in their water glasses. AnswerNo. Unfortunately there are many who become addicted by starting far too young. The brain of a minor is far more likely to be damaged, and the alcohol industry in this country has caused some serious problems with the culture of alcohol. Their advertising focus seems to be on making alcohol a right of passage. Almost every minor has seen the adds and there is a natural association that suggests that drinking makes you more "grown up".

The simple reality is, drinking doesn't "Make" you anything. If you aren't responsible, you'll be an irresponsible drinker. Raising the legal drinking age just encourages some people to wait until they are a little more mature.

Far more young people die in this country every year from alcohol related causes than from firearms, yet we want to do away with firearms. Young drivers, those under 24, are responsible for far more traffic collisions and fatalities than older drivers; yet there are those who would ask for lowering the drinking age to allow many of those irresponsible younger drivers to be irresponsible about alcohol as well, and potentially drive while impaired.

Alcohol can bring out the "stupid" in people. Young people are already plenty stupid in much of their behavior. "It won't happen to me", is a far more common attitude of young people.

Answer

I disagree at the age of 18 an individual is considered an adult by society and having a drinking age higher than the age of majority only creates discrimination and a feeling of unjust to those at whom the law is aimed there are a couple of things i would like to point out they are as follows:

1. Every other country in the world has a drinking age at 18

2.Drinking at 18 will not damage your brain because if this were true everyone else in the world who began drinking at 18 (and that is everyone living in another country other than America) would have severe brain impairments as suggested by Madd (the ones responsible for the worst law in the history of this country)

3.The adult brain does reach full development as it relates to descision making until the mid twenties to thirties(25-30 yrs of age) so this is a clear contradiction to what mothers against drunk driving say that 21 is a right age the fact is the right age for this society is 18 because that is the age of majority

Here are educated arguments for lowering the drinking age

They charged you with a crime and they arrested you for months after the crime what will happen to you?

What will happen is worse because you didn't turn yourself in , so if you're being arrested for something you did way after the crime had been committed and you say that you are guilty you get the same thing you would have gotten if you had just said that in the first place . It just pro-longs the inevitible is all it does , but I do know there is a ten year statute of limitations .

SO , if you did it and plead guilty it'll be the same , but if you did it and plead not guilty cuz its so long after the crime was already commited then all you need to do is fight it , fight it fight it fight it.

THats the problem with this state , OREGON, is that nobody fights anymore , that's the problem with most states is people think if they fight and if they lose they'll go away longer , well you don't go away longer ,everything takes more time and is seen as a hassle, well I say OH WELL as long as you don't have the crap on your record you are fine.
