It is possible to hack into a Mac. If you have physical access to the Mac then it is possible to hack into it. If you can persuade someone to download a script that will give you access to the Mac then it is possible to hack into the Mac remotely - this was the case at the recent pwn2own contest.

It is getting even easier as more people get MACs. The default for Mac computers is "accept all incoming." A program can now get into a MAC computer and take it over without the user realizing it. Anyone with a MAC should go into System Preferences and into security. You should change from the default to block all incoming. That way only programs that you send out, such as Safari can receive replies. No one can hack into your computer.

If your startup disk is full, you may experience issues with software applications running incorrectly or crashing. If you are currently running, the first thing to do is free up disk space. Empty the trash. Look for files you can remove from your Downloads folder (in your home folder). If you use iPhoto or iMovie, emptying the trash in those applications can often free up significant space. Once you have some breathing room, try to find where your space is being consumed. If you have lots of music or pictures or similar items, maybe it's time for some house cleaning to get rid of things you've downloaded or saved but don't really need. I would suggest to download free Mac cleaner software like Stellar Speed up Mac to clean OS X startup drive. it will delete junk files from OS X drive and gain free spaces.

The video files end up as VOBs, but that is taken care of by your DVD burning software, you don't need to do the conversion beforehand.
