The term, 'generator', can be applied to both A.C. and D.C. machines. An 'alternator' is specifically an A.C. generator. Power stations use alternators, because it is necessary to transmit electrical energy at high voltages, and this is done using transformers, which are A.C. machines
main difference depends on magnetic field spin or fixed...
"In an alternator, electricity is produced when a magnetic field spins inside the stator. In generator, the armature or windings of wire spin inside a fixed magnetic field to generate electricity"
alternator use on smallscale production & generator use on large scale..
What is the meaning of operation in lathe machining?
An "operation" is one step in a manufacturing process. Typically, there are a number of operations required to manufacture any given part, and you try to do as many of them in a single machine setup as possible to save time and cost. Considering lathework, you might have a part that requires this set of steps to make: 1. Rough turn stock / 2. Final turn outside diameter. / 3. Turn snap ring groove / 4. Turn thread undercut / 5. Cut thread / 6. Knurl / 7. Face / 8. Cutoff Each of these steps would probably use a different cutting tool in the lathe, and would be an operation. Depending on the sophistication of the lathe, all the required tools might be loaded into a turret in the sequence they are required. That would be the setup.
What type of tip do you use to braze?
Brazing can be done with a small torch or a big soldering iron. Either electric or brazier heated. The tip on a torch should be small as you don't need the heat you use when gas welding or cutting.

Why two stroke engines are hi-speed engines and four stroke engines are hi-torque engines?
generally , two strokes are smaller capacity , shorter stroke, higher revs. for given engine capacity ,
long stroke /small bore = high torque / low revs
short stroke/big bore = low torque / high revs
What is consolidated drained triaxial test?
In a consolidated drained test the sample is consolidated and sheared in compression with drainage. The rate of axial deformation is kept constant, i.e. is strain controlled. The idea is that the test allows the sample and the pore pressures to fully consolidate (i.e. adjust) to the surrounding stresses. The test may take a long time to allow the sample to adjust, in particular low permeability samples need a long time to drain and adjust strain to stress level
What is the difference between deflection and bending?
Bending moment
With "bending" you really mean the bending moment. The bending moment in an inner stress within a member (usually beam) that allows it to carry a load. The bending moment doesn't say anything about how much a beam would actually bend (deflect).
Deflection
Deflection measures the actual change in a material you could call "bending." It measures the physical displacement of a member under a load.
There is a picture of a gear in the related link.
a gear tooth is one of the things on the outside of the gear that sticks out. This gear has 18 teeth.
What is the word equation for burning petrol in an engine?
Hexane + Oxygen -> Carbon Dioxide + Water - for full combustion
Hexane + Oxygen -> Carbon + Carbon Monoxide + Water - for partial combustion
How does Star tours the ride work?
The Star Tours ride is a motion simulator ride that works with 2 hydraulic pistons at each of 3 points on the underside of the ride cabin. The pistons can simulate up, down, left, right or any combination of the 4.

What is the formula to layout pipe saddles for joining pipe at angles?
I edited and uploaded a program I wrote to calculate pipe saddle layout, pipe miter layout, and to calculate running offsets for piping runs. I have used similar programs in the past to get information to pipe fitters. I am using and evaluating a conversion program that limits what I can upload during the free trial period; so the sheets may be a bit awkward to use....let me know. Those of you who use the method of dividing a pipe in 16-divisions will note I have added 64-division points should you want to use these; the 64-divisions would be better to use if you were making a saddle template for larger pipe or for a saddle with a shallow angle. (I moved this to 'www.pipesaddlelayout.com) Let me know if it works for you or what seems confusing.

What is difference between magnetic circuit and electric circuit?

How do you get more power out of a 1989 LeBaron turbo engine?
I assumer you are talking about the 2.2 litre turbo engine. There are a few ways to get more power out of this engine. The most common way is to increase the pressure of the air which is being forced into your engine. This can be done by utilizing the wastegate.

What is the difference between a propeller and impeller?
Propeller is external (outboard motor on a boat)
Impeller is internal (vehicle water pump).
Is there an adapter to screw a PVC pipe into the cast iron cleanout?
Yes. It is simply a threaded male adapter. But what are you trying to accomplish? what you are trying to do may not comply with code and may create a health hazard.
What is the difference between SLIP and PPP?
SLIP is called Serial Line Internet Protocol and PPP is the acronym of Point-to-Point Protocol.
Multi-ProtocolsPPP has some additional benefits. Unlike SLIP (which can only transport TCP/IP traffic), PPP is a multi-protocol transport mechanism. This means that PPP not only transports TCP/IP traffic, but can also transport IPX and Appletalk traffic, to name just a few. Better yet, PPP lets you transport all of these protocols at the same time - on the same connection. This is often not a concern for most users since their purpose of either using SLIP or PPP is to connect to the internet and the internet uses TCP/IP only. Therefore, there is no need to transport other protocols.
Configuration NegotiationWith SLIP, you have to know the IP address assigned to you by your service provider. You also need to know the IP address of the remote system you will be dialing into. If IP addresses are dynamically assigned (depends on your service provider), your SLIP software needs to be able to pick up the IP assignments automatically failing which you have to setup them up manually. You may also need to configure such details as MTU (maximum transmission unit), MRU (maximum receive unit), use of VJ compression header (ie., CSLIP), etc. All these can get confusing pretty fast.PPP addresses this problem by negotiating configuration parameters at the start of the connection. This can greatly simplify the configuration of your PPP connection.
Automatic LoginMost SLIP/PPP software can dial-up and automatically login for you. However, they often depend on your service provider's system sending out standard prompts (eg, "login:" to get the login name and "password:" to get the password). If they are any way non-standard, you either need to write a script to automate the login process yourself or login manually in the terminal emulation mode of your SLIP/PPP software.PPP provides two methods with which logins can be automated - PAP (Password Authentication Protocol) and CHAP (Challenge-Handshake Authentication Protocol). Both provide the means for your system to automatically send your login userid/password information to the remote system.
Pumping nitrogen through refrigerant piping during brazing is an excellent practice. The reason is that nitrogen helps to prevent the buildup of oxide scale on the inside of the pipes during the brazing process. Refrigerant is a natural cleaning agent, and as it is being pumped through the pipes it will pick up the scale and contaminate the refrigerant. It is possible that this will damage to the compressor.
