What is a gas turbine compressor bleed valve?
Valve which is meant to siphon off a portion of the flow from another system.
A heavy-duty gas turbine employs compressor bleed valves to protect the axial compressor during start-up and shutdown against stalling and surging conditions. These valves are typically only open during acceleration to rated speed and deceleration from rated speed. Newer heavy-duty gas turbine with complex combustion system arrangements designed to limit emission of harmful gases also employ the compressor bleed valves during very light loading to limit the amount of air entering the combustor.
Compressor bleed valves discharge into the gas turbine exhaust duct. Compressor bleed valves are generally closed during normal operation (with the previous exception) since "dumping" axial compressor discharge into the exhaust reduces efficiency (but it's MANDATORY during start-up and acceleration to protect the compressor!). Compressor bleed valves are generally either fully open or fully closed; they are not modulated.
Heavy-duty gas turbines also employ inlet bleed heat valves to recirculate a portion of the axial compressor discharge back to the inlet of the axial compressor for a variety of functions. One application uses them to heat the inlet air to prevent icing on the compressor inlet (appropriately called anti-icing protection); another application uses inlet bleed heat to protect the axial compressor when the IGVs (axial compressor Inlet Guide Vanes) are closed below the "normal" operating conditions ("normal" being before complicated combustion systems designed to limit exhaust emissions were invented).
Inlet bleed heat control valves are modulated to control the amount of air recirculated back to the axial compressor inlet. Recirculating axial compressor discharge back to the inlet is also inefficient, but is generally limited to approximately 5% of rated air flow through the compressor--and necessary to protect the compressor at low IGV angles. Inlet bleed heat valves are generally closed before the unit reaches rated load (except for anti-icing protection) and should be closed during rated power output (Base Load) operation (except for anti-icing protection).
What kind of motor vehicles are in Belize?
What is difference between internal gear pump and extenal gear pumps?
one has external teeth the other has internal teeth
What load carried by structural steel can be accurately calculated?
Dead Loads obviously. Everything else is circumstantial.
What is the standard thickness for metal foil?
Foil is generally defined as being 0.005 inches or less in thickness. Some foil producers also produce precision sheet and strip, which are materials between 0.015 and 0.005 inches in thickness.
How thick is 26 gauge aluminum flashing?
26 guage = 0.0165", which is a bit more than 1/64" in fractions. Four sheets of 26 guage aluminum laid on top of each other would measure about 1/16" thick.
What are the four high velocity forming processes?
forming. These techniques could include methods such as explosive forming, electromagnetic forming and so
forth. All these techniques involve imparting a high kinetic energy to the work piece by accelerating it to a
highly velocity, before it is made to hit the appropriate die or made to undergo the process of plastic the
formation.
I must also tell you that although this method seems very new, it was discovered more than 100 years ago and
metals were being worked upon using HVF techniques as early as the 1930s. Due to the nature of the
operations it would also be appropriate to name this technique as highly velocity deformation rather than high
velocity formation.
One main advantage of using HVF techniques is that very complex shaped parts can be formed in a single
operation, rather than carrying out a series of operations to achieve the same results via conventional forming
techniques.
A wide variety of operations which are conventionally carried out using traditional methods can be done using
highly velocity techniques, and these processes include those of extrusion, die-forging, punching, joining and
so forth. The list of materials which can be formed using high velocity methods contains a wide variety of
materials including magnesium, aluminium, zirconium, stainless steel, alloys steel etc.
Advantages of HVF
Highly velocity forming techniques have several advantages over conventional forming techniques, apart from
reducing the number of processes required in manufacturing.
The strain distribution is much more uniform in a single operation of HVF as compared to conventional forming
techniques. This results in making it easy to produce complex shapes without inducing unnecessary strains in
the material.
Since the basic principle of a highly velocity formation technique is quite opposite to that of a conventional
forming technique, the tools and other equipment used in the process has quite lightweight compact relatively
speaking.
High velocity techniques can be used to improvise upon various joining methods such as say for example
fusion welding. Impact welding using highly velocity techniques can produce much better results than the
conventional fusion welding techniques

Where are hydraulic and pneumatic systems used?
Many, many places. Good examples of hydraulic systems include automotive brakes, and the control systems of large aircraft. Pneumatic systems include many types of tools found in an automotive repair shop. Both systems supply forces somewhere remote from where it is practical to locate large machinery. Hydraulics give high forces with low losses, thanks to the virtual incompressibility of hydraulic fluids. Pneumatics are usually less efficient, though simpler since the "resevoir" in the circuit is the atmosphere. That eliminates return piping and leakage problems.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but for a beginner weldor of any process it takes lots of practise and proper learning. The perfect Bead wont just happen. You have to perfect your bead each time you weld. This especially must be done with stick because it is the hardest form of Arc Welding. Once you learn it you can master any other process. Just strike a clean arc and continue in a strait line all the way down. If you want you can add a slight half moon or wisping motion to the puddle. On thicker metal you should point the rod down to the opposite end of the work piece to simulate a "pushing" direction for the puddle. For smaller gage or even sheet metal you should pull the puddle down from one end to the other and stay on the end of the leading edge of the puddle. What is the difference between piston and plunger?
The difference between a piston and a plunger may be understood if you observe what forms the seal that precludes the fluid from passing either the Plunger or Piston.
The 'piston' is a steel block equipped with elastomers that makes wall contact with the cylinder wall. As it moves inside the cylinder it wipes the wall and displaces the entire content of the cylinder. In this case the seals form part of the piston.
The 'plunger' is a steel block that moves through a hole that is equipped with elastomer seals. The plunger displaces a portion of the cylinder contents, i.e., the volume of the plunger that enters the cylinder. The plunger does not wipe the walls of the cylinder. The seals, in case, are a part of the cylinder block.

Explain working of forced lubrication system?
In a mechanical system such as surface to surface movements or a mechanical seal normal lubrication does nor penetrate in the gaps where lubrication is essential due to force / pressure in the mating part or seal.
Lubrication in this case is forced into the joints by applying pressure resulting in forced penetration of lubricant.
Who is the largest domestic consumer of steel springs?
The automotive industry is the largest consumer of steel springs.
Its fraud fraud fraud
Is it true that all hydraulic motor are positive displacement?
yes.only positive displacement pumps can be used in hydraulics
Why petrol engines are used for light duty purpose and diesel engines for heavy duty purpose?
In simple terms, the petrol ("gasoline") contains fewer calories/btus per unit, so it can't do as much work as an equivilent amount of diesel. Diesel, being heavier, is more energy-dense, therefore capable of doing more work. More energy per unit means more work, and that translates into more a more valuable product, which is why diesel costs more than petrol.
How do you measure heat effected zone in butt weld?
It is the heat affected zone. It differs in every weld. but a good rule of thumb is .25" on either side of the weld
