First off I would not recommend using any topical deadening agents...Most of them you need to know a complete heart history of the client...Also will they inhibit the ink from taking....I can tell you from personal use that 10 % lidocaine creme worked great, for 15 minutes...But as the stuff wore off the pain was 3x as bad....Not worth it....
The inside of the arm hurts worse that the outside...Wherever the sun and wind hits you the most will hurt the least, as the skin will be tougher there. Now wherever one portion of your body joins up with another, these areas will hurt worse...Your skin is thinner and nerve endings probably closer to the surface....For the longest time I thot that the area immediately behind the hand where the wrist meets it was one of the most painful spots on my body..And if I were you I would move the tattoo at least one inch back from the hand....Inch and a half would be best.....Hope this helps....TatuBaron

--I am a female and I have a tattoo on my wrist just 1/4 inch from the bend and a tattoo on the inside of my left arm, just under the elbow. [also a back tattoo and calve tattoo] I am not tough. I am extremely sensitive to pain. However, The two arm tattoos were not as bad as you would think. When getting either, I think it helps that you are able to exert some of the pain by balling your hand into a fist. It is going to hurt- That is a true story. But it will not be unbearable. My wrist was the least painful out of all four tattoos. Then my inner forearm, followed by my back. My leg hurt the most. LOL. Try gently massaging down from your ribs to your pelvic bone. Go down the center, then, down each side of the front. The warmth and pressure of your hand will help move gas downward to be expelled. To help expel it, you can lie on your left side and draw your knees to your chest. IF the pain is from the colon, you might have a bowel movement within the coming hours. This would stop the pain.
