The firing order for the 1991 Mercury Capri 1.6 liter, 4-cylinder non-turbo engine is 1342. Ford Motor Company produced the Capri from 1970-1977, then from 1979-1986, and again from 1991-1994.

Unhook the latches holding down your top Slightly lift back the top from where it was latched down While it is lifted slightly pull the back part up and out of where it is hooked to the back Fold the back flap with the window up Use your key to unlock the top (located behind the drivers door) Pull up the handle under where you put the key in Lift the hinged lid behind your back seats Lower the back flap with the window While you are pushing the entire top back and down you have to take hold of the number 2 metal bar(located right above your head when you are sitting) and pull it forward so the top will go all the way down and fit properly. Once the top is all the way in close the plastic cover. If the top doesn't fit in all the way than you did not pull the 2nd bar forward. Do not force the plastic top to go down all the way just put the top back in place and try again. It takes a couple of times to get good at it but don't worry the 1st time is the hardest.

Synchronizer ring worn. (Fix: Replace.)
Worn cone surface of gear. (Fix: Replace.)
lmproper contact between synchronizer ring and cone surface. (Fix: Replace.)
Excessive play in the axial direction cf each gear. (Fix: Replace worn component.)
Bearings worn. (Fix: Adjust or replace.)
Synchronizer key is weakened. (Fix: Replace.)

The bottom of the seat can be removed by pushing with your knee on the front bottom of the seat, about one foot on each side.Then lift up, and then poof ur done!!!!!!

You need to replace it. I ran into the problem a month ago. I removed the door panel and noticed the cable all stretched out. It's hard to find parts but located one on line. If you have a mechanic have the mechanic install the regulator. Dob't attempt it yourself if you are not familiar with it. It looks simple and i attempted it and it ended up costing me an additiona 400 dollars espicially when I damaged the lock. good luck

the above answer is bull.. its kind of hard, but if you are patient and can follow instructions i suggest checking out the how-to section of www.techcapri.com and there is an illustrated step by step guide on how to do it. make sure you use the right tools and follow their instructions. the one exception i made was that when it came to re-mounting the motor, i couldn't get an epoxy that would hold bolts onto it so i used zipties.. just make sure you tighten them reeeeaaaally tight, otherwise the motor will still sometimes swing out and block the window from going down.

After you unhook the front latches, push back to unhook top from the back ledge. Roll the rear window under first, push the top back slowly and then push the 1st(front) roller bar backwards as the top is falling into the backend. If you don't, the top won't fit flush. I assume that you mean, "2.3 liter engine," because 23 liters is pretty big, and Ford never made one that size. The firing order is 1-3-4-2, and cylinder number 1 is the one on the end where the drive belts for the alternator, etc., are; cylinder number 4 is closest to the transmission or output end of the engine. Two and three are, naturally, in order between one and four. Ignition timing is dependent upon a lot of factors, all related to engine/application questions. An initial timing of approximately five degrees before top dead center will get the engine running; you can get better specifications from a shop manual for your particular application. If it is for an automobile in the United States, Europe, Australia, or Japan, there should be a sticker under the hood which gives the tune-up specifications.
