Unhook the latches holding down your top Slightly lift back the top from where it was latched down While it is lifted slightly pull the back part up and out of where it is hooked to the back Fold the back flap with the window up Use your key to unlock the top (located behind the drivers door) Pull up the handle under where you put the key in Lift the hinged lid behind your back seats Lower the back flap with the window While you are pushing the entire top back and down you have to take hold of the number 2 metal bar(located right above your head when you are sitting) and pull it forward so the top will go all the way down and fit properly. Once the top is all the way in close the plastic cover. If the top doesn't fit in all the way than you did not pull the 2nd bar forward. Do not force the plastic top to go down all the way just put the top back in place and try again. It takes a couple of times to get good at it but don't worry the 1st time is the hardest.

I had the same problem with my 91 - It seemed to get stuck on something and not go all the way down. This is what I learned and it worked. The #1 top bow (directly over your head when seated in the front seat of the car) has elastic built in the top pads to help it nest properly. In older Capris the top pads elastic straps have lost tension and doesn't pull the #1 bow back toward the rear of the car. If your convertible frame will not fold down completely, lift it about 6 to 8 inches and locate the #1 top bow. Swing it toward the rear of the car. This will release the binding and allow the convertible top frame and fabri to collapse into the rear storage well. Hope this helps.

I am having the same problem. I had the fuel pump replaced and the problem was solved, but now the car stalls when I make a left turn. the engine light still goes on, but not when the gas tank is full. I suspect something malfunctioning in the gas tank, or in the fuel delivery system itself.

i tapped mine lightly with a hammer and the top portion popped out and was able to open it up.

As far as I know there are no Chilton,Haynes, or other aftermarket manuals. Factory manuals are usually available on ebay. There are 2 to my knowledge: Factory service manual, and EVTM, or electrical and vacuum troubleshooting manual. Much of the factory workshop manual can be downloaded from www.techcapri.com The only difference between the 1991 Capri & the 1992-1993 Capri was a change in the radio/stereo options. For all practical purposes, a 1992 or 1993 shop manual & the 1992 or 1993 EVTM manual would suffice as repair/maintenance guides. 1992-1993 manuals are easier to find & unlike the 1991 loose leaf shop manual, they are bound.

My '91 Capri had the same problem. It turned out to be a problem with something I had never heard of before. It's called a stator. I believe it is located in or near the distributor, and replacement fixed my problem.

Remove the battery and plastic battery tray. In the early model there were 2 sections to the cable (upper and lower) and they meet just under the edge of the battery tray. The upper cable comes throught the firewall in a rubber tube. The lower cable connects to the transmission. The 1993 capri is very simple. The cable will NOT come out the top. It can only be removed from the bottom but no need to get under the car or remove any parts. Cover the left fender to protect it and lay across the engine. Reach straight down in front of the firewall in about the center of the car. The speedometer cable attaches to the top of the transmission and the cable can probably be unscrewed by hand. Bend the cable up and pull the cable out. When replacing it, leave it dangling out an inch or two at the bottom to more easily seat the notch in the cable into the transmission. It will slide in the rest of the way when you push to housing back a screw it on. All in all a couple of minutes to do the whole job. These are specialty parts per the speedometer shop I talked to and are not easily re-made, so keep the one you have lubricated.

under the hood attached to the fire wall on the drivers side. the male fitting on the filter is bent @ a 90 degree angle facing the front of your car. it is same location for 1991 also

The fuel pump relay is locate under the ECM. "Computer"

If I'm not mistaking it is under the computer all the way to the left.

The coolant temp sensor is threaded into the thermostat housing, and has one small female plug (black i think). It is just to the left of the air box. Very easy fix.

Well, honey, you can start by revving up that engine and listening for any unusual noises like a high-pitched whining. You can also visually inspect the turbo for any leaks or damage. If you're feeling fancy, you can get a professional mechanic to run a diagnostic test to check the boost levels.

its got to be two things either your headlights or the headlight switch, theres no relay so straight power from the battery to the switch to the headlamps. just change your headlight and it should work.

Inside the distributor, basically the first component you'll see and have access to once you remove the distributor cap. It has two Philips headed screws holding it in and two wires connected to it via push on blade connectors. If you're familiar with the old points and condenser ignition it is located where you would expect to find the points in other words.

Most parts on the cars are interchangeable from 91' to 94' the only things you have to watch is the convertale tops.

I've been told that this is usually the cv boot and that it is easier to buy an axle from an auto parts place and have a mechanic replace the axle.
