ps be careful where it says to pry up the gear flange to remove it, the flange easily breaks off...try putting vise grips onto the flange and rotate it back and forth, then work the flange up, a little at a time...just don;t torque onto the flange or it will break...

*please note, this entire process is easier with the windows down.

1) a. push the red latch holder forward and pull downward on the latch located near the drivers head, releasing the hook from the fastener on the windshield frame. once the hook is out, you can re-secure the latch in its locked in position with the hook free.

b. repeat with the latch on the passengers side

2) a. take the key you use for the glovebox and the trunk and insert it in the keyhole to the left of the drivers seat and turn it 90 degrees (will only turn one way).

b. pull the latch with the top indicator on it releasing the the top cover door.

c. standing outside the vehicle, pull upwards on the the very front of the top, and back on the part of the top that locks in underneath the ridge on the far back. with the top part up a little bit and the back pulled out, pull out the side ridges from their crevices as well.

d. with all ridges disengaged, flip the back part of the top including the window up over the very top part of the convertible top.

e. with the top out of the way, pull up on the cover door that you released in step 2a if you have accidentally relatched it, just pull the release by the passengers seat near the keyhole again.

3)a. carefully put the back end of the top back down and lower it into the top compartement pay attention to the side ridges as they are made of bendable rubber and will be annoying to straighten out if you bend them in this process. pay attention to these parts through out the sub-instructions of step 3.

b. push the cover back and let it fold into the top compartment

c. as you get to the last bit of the top, you will need to manually push the second bar back upwards so that it folds into place correctly.

d. once the top is entirlely and easily packed into the top compartment, close the top door. youre all done, enjoy your topless cruise.

*when putting the top back up pay special attention to the part of the top that fits into the far back ridge. sometimes it likes to pop up above the ridge while you are securing the latches. if this happens you can press it down and it will snap into place... just push down on the corner where it is disengaged as though you were giving your car cpr.

one reason might be a worn out water pump. another is usually a neglected cooling system that simply needs to be cleaned. The worst possibility is that on that 1.6 litre engine the mismatch of a cast iron block and an aluminum head have caused a head gasket failure.

I do bleave thet is under the back seat(just remove the seat and there is a plate there for the fuel pump) I think it is ther But I may be rong.

I have a 1994 Chrysler lebaron convertible GTC the top motor went out I changed the relay which is right beside the top motor. And that did not fix the problem so I got a ice cream bucket and unhooked the two oil lines that attach to the motor which is behind the back seat under the well cover. I put the ends of the oil lines in the ice cream bucket and removed the top motor the a friend and I pushed the top down by hand to push out all the oil from the lines. Now my convertible top is manual. Don't put lines back on motor or it will not work.

We just bought a 92 capri a couple weeks ago and are finding all the littlle weird things about them. Our car was doing that somewhat. When we'd shift from 3rd to 4rth or 5th it would stall like it couldn't take the gas. I took the car down and filled it up with high octain gas and a bottle of Lucas Fuel System Stuff. Seems to be running like a champ now but I guess time will tell.

If the timing belt breaks on any engine the damage to the engine is usually very bad.

The fuse box is under the dash just left of the steering column. Very hard to see. You might need a mirror and flashlight to help see it. The fuse removal tool is in the cover that covers the fuses.

Open the trunk, look for a round black rubber stopper toward the left brake light. Pry it open, inside there is a metallic lever, twist it anti clockwise to release the top. Manually lift the top to close it. Then turn the metallic lever backwards to its original position, put back the rubber stopper, get inside the car and lock your top.

You will not find an after market service manual for the 90-94 mercury capri from either Chiltons or Haynes. I have looked high and low...the Ford dealers in America don't even want to help out with anything connected to the 90-94 Mercury capri. They say a service manual is not avalible. After many days...weeks of research, I have found a web site that can help you out. www.techcapri.com They have downloadable material for servicing the 90-94 Capri.

i got a factory service manual thru ford but took about 6 weeks and i had to do alot of the foot work for them.cost is a little over $100 will need a couple 3 ring binders to hold it all.but tells you anything and everything you want to know.

i have a 1994 non-turbo capri 5 speed, i thought mine had the same problem, but the reason that its showing that your engine is overheating, is because the temp gauge maxes out at a somewhat lower temperature reading than most other cars.

What happens a lot is the wiring to the fan becomes overheated, stretched, cooled, etc. - over time, it develops an open situation, the fan doesn't turn on when it should and the car overheats.

Run the car until the temp gauge reads between 200F and 225F, move that bundle of wires around a little - if fan magically turns on, trace and replace!

under the heat shield. remove the heat shield and it will be sticking out right above the exhaust headers.

remover battery post pos side remove all belts remove crank pulley may need a puller remove timing cover turn engine to top dead center no.1 piston up marks on cams with marks on timing cover crank key should be at 12 oclock.replacing water pump an all idler pulleys should be done

First remove the gray cover behind the light in the trunk. You should then have acsess to the bulbs.

First drain the oil and take all of the bolts out of the bottom of the oil pan. Next you want to clean everything up really good because you don't want any oil on the new gasket. Make sure you pull the old gasket out of the oil pan. After everything is clean AND DRY!! Put the new gasket in the top of the oil pan and put all of the bolts back into the bottom of the oil pan. You might as well take this opportunity to change your oil filter too seeing as you'll be putting new oil in anyways.
