Aside from the obvious of loosening the lugs, raising the vehicle and removing the tires, take a C-clamp and compress the caliper by putting the fixed end of the clamp on the rear of the break caliper and the adjustable end on the outside shoe. They are all around the engine block. Several (usually three) on either side under the exhaust manifolds and usually one or two in the front on either side and the same in the back. They are round, flat circles somewhat resembling a jar or bottle lid made of steel or sometimes brass that are pressed into holes in the engine block. I say some because you pretty much have to drive them in with a hammer, so it takes a bit of room to do the job. While you have them all out, clean out the water jacket with some brushes and get the rust out. It builds up in the block restricting coolant flow and allows the engine to overheat. If you need a specific drawing of exactly where they are, I suggest looking in a junk yard or finding an engine diagram. Either way, good luck.

Usually this type of problem is caused by what is called an "open circuit" condition.

As main lighting switches are very expensive, and difficult to change out, I suggest that switch replacement should be the last resort after all other causes have been eliminated.
It is very disconcerting to replace an expensive and difficult to install component only to find that is doesn't solve the problem, AND to find out later that the problem was caused by something else, and that here was nothing wrong with the replaced component.
So, do a thorough investigation of all the connectors, connections, splices [if any], and all components of the nonfunctional light circuit(s) BEFORE replacing anything.
I would first check all the connectors in the wiring harness [loom] starting at the rear light assemblies, working forward to the main [headlight] switch.
The "proper fix" is for someone who knows what he or she is doing to troubleshoot the nonfunctional circuits, find and identify the specific defect, and properly repair it.
