vehicle scanned for any trouble code(s) to diagnose and repair the problem

You don't mention what year of Mercury Grand Marquis but the owners

manual will explain what to do if the transmission gear shift lever will not

shift out of ( P / PARK ) with the brake pedal depressed ( it has what Ford

calls the " brake shift interlock " )

I say this from experience on a 2004

The motor is separate I used the old motor and replaced the regulator.

I had to drill out rivets OH ya I BROKE the window drilling out the rivets that hold the window onto the regulator. after that I reattached the motor assembly with bolts and nylon lock nuts. then went to a glass shop to have the window replaced.

The spark plugs are gapped at ( .050 inch )

I don't know about the 2006 model, but the air suspension will adjust to any weight that is put on it. What you don't want to do is over load the air pump. I have pulled a 3,500 lb boat with minimal hitch weight and with the same car pulled a pop up camper with lots of hitch weight, no problem. Just when towing, take the o/drive off. Also helps to have a transmission cooler installed. Remember, when you have 3 people sit in the back seat, that's up to 500 or more lbs. The suspension will adjust by itself.

On a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis :

The fuse box is below and to the left of the steering wheel , by the brake pedal ( it has a cover on it )

Also , the Power Distribution Box ( which is " live " ) is located in the engine compartment

Replace the line that is leaking, and do not try any stop leak.

I noticed rough idle on a 2001 MGM and what seemed like transmission slip while going uphill. I replaced the spark plugs. Both problems went away.

On a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis , 4.6 liter V8 engine :

The firing order is ( 1 - 3 - 7 - 2 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 8 )

It has the Coil On Plug ( C.O.P. ) ignition system with ( 8 ) individual coils

The engine cylinder locations are numbered :

Two possible reasons. One, the Alternator is bad and two, the battery has a dead cell in it. Advance Auto Parts offers free testing on both.
