my understanding was that struts typically are on the front of a vehicle while

shocks are on the back. yes there should be a difference, far more weight in

the front of a sable than the back, even with the trunk loaded. my guess is that

they are very different parts.

I paid 59.00 + st at autozone BR,La and changed it myself. It took me about 3.5 hours. I read the manual prior to servicing it. Just give yourself additional time to as needed to accomplish the task and Good luck!

It's not actually a square hole, rather a square bolt head. I had this issue when a pulley fell of my sable a while ago. It's right in the middle of the tensioner. I ended up having to use a serpentine belt tool because I had maybe 2" of space between the wheel well and the actual bolt. Leverage is key

From what i know, there is no access panel under the rear seat to get to the fuel pump. So ****don't cut a hole***** the proper way is to lower the tank from underneath the car and then remove the pump. You are begging for trouble if you go cutting holes in the metal around a tank full of gas!!!! Do it the right way!
There are some who have had great success with modifying the floorpan... Myself included as of 4 days ago.

Is it risky that you'll drill an unplanned opening into the tank? Sure. Can you mess it up and end up buying a replacement tank? You betcha. Would you use an angle grinder throwing a stream of sparks across the top of the gas tank? Only if you mother raised a complete idiot - and it's not one of your siblings.

I had a spare tank to take lots of measurements off of and thankfully a lot of luck was with me.
