The shift lock solenoid is located on top of the steering column. You will need to remove the steering column covers, lower dash trim, and the heater duct. Remove the steering column bolts and lower the steering column to access the shift lock solenoid.

It's located on the back side of the intake manifold. It's screwed into the manifold.

The 1994 villager is OBD-I, so the connector is located on the right side of the engine on top of the transmission casing. You will see three connectors. It is the one closest to the firewall. The process of getting the codes to flash are found in an Edmunds shop manual. You turn the ignition to "on", disconnect the the connector, use a jumper to cross two pins, wait for 2 seconds, re-connect the connector and then go read the slow/fast flashes via the check engine light inside. After you turn the ignition off, the check engine codes will be erased. good luck, shawn

It is easier and more cost-effective to swap out the shaft assemblies.

Because of the complexity of this kind of job, it is strongly suggested that you buy a repair manual that explains it in detail. You need to loosen the axle nut with the car on the ground, raise the car, remove the wheel, unbolt the lower ball joint, tie rod end stud, strut lower through bolts, remove the brake caliper, then you can tap the CV shaft stud back and pull the spindle assembly free of the CV shaft. The driver side CV shaft can then be popped out of the transmission. The passenger side CV shaft has a carrier bearing with three bolts holding the shaft to the bearing. Do not try to take the bracket off the engine, it is not necessary. Installation is the reverse of removal.

The manual on most Villagers states that the fuel tank capacity is 20 gallons. I've never been able to put in more than 17 gallons even when the gauge is at the bottom and not moving.

No, because it probably wouldn't work in any other location. Just because you are receiving a trouble code for it does not mean there is anything wrong with it. This sensor shares a circuit with other components that often will set a "ghost" trouble code.

The jack engages notches in the rail on the rocker panel. Consult your owners manual if it isn't obvious.

I dont know what you are talking about, but I would suggest buying a new one or getting somebody that has some skills with mechanics to look at it.

The Villager has a non-interference engine. It will not be destroyed if the timing belt breaks.

There are 2 bolts at the front and bottom of the rear seat just where the rear floor board begins to go under the seat. One is behind the driver seat the other behind the other behind the passenger seat. If I remember correctly you just remove those two bolts and it should slide out.

The correct gap is .034. Hope that helps.

The Mercury Villager is a Mercury. The actual vehicle was mostly engineered by Nissan, and was also sold as the Nissan Quest. Nissan had originally sought a minivan partner in the early 90's to share development costs of a minivan, and Volkswagen was initially interested. When they dropped out, Ford indicated they were interested, as at the time they did not have the production capacity to engineer a minivan from scratch, and the vehicle was essentially ready to go. Ford did provide certain specifications, but the majority of the engineering was done by Nissan. The Mercury and Nissan vehicles differed only in trim options. They were assembled in the US from a mix of domestic and imported parts. Although the vehicle was largely engineered by Nissan, it is considered a domestic vehicle and was fully supported by Ford. The vehicle was produced for Mercury from 1993 to 2002 with a redesign in 1998. The vehicle line was updated and reintroduced later and is still sold by Nissan as the Quest.

Depends upon which motor mount it is. I've replaced the lower rear mount on my wife's 96 LS and the part was about $75 and it took me about 2 hours. You have to raise the engine enough to take pressure off of the mount and then wiggle it out once the bolts are removed. I also paid CarMax $225 to replace the same mount on our previous Villager, a 93 GS (same mount). The more miles she piles up on the thing (183k and going strong), the more repairs I figure out that I can do and it's always cheaper than paying someone else. Time is an issue though. Andy
