How do you remove a passenger side cv shaft on a 1997 mercury villager?
It is the same basic procedure as thee left side with one exception. Remove the cotter pin and retainer from the stub shaft. Break the hub nut loose with a socket and large breaker bar. Loosen the lug nuts, raise the vehicle and support it on jack stands. Detach the lower ball joint from the steering knuckle. Disconnect the stabilizer bar link from the lower control arm. Pry the lower control arm down and separate the ball joint from the steering knuckle. Remove the the brake caliper and suspend it on a wire. Remove the brake disc. Remove the drive axle hub nut and washer.Using a a two-jaw puller, press the stub shaft until it breaks free. To remove the right side drive axle, mark the relationship between the the axle center bearing retainer and bracket and remove the axle bearing retainer bolts. Position a large pry bar behind the flange of the inner CV joint and pry sharply to free the circlip on the inner CV joint stub shaft from the transaxle. Pull the strut away from the vehicle and separate the stub from the hub. Remove the drive axle from the vehicle. When reinstalling the drive axle. support the CV joints. NOTE: There is no circlip on the right side inner CV joint stub shaft.

Where is the Fuel Pump Cut-Off Switch in Merury Villager 1997?
Okay, the fuel pump cut-off switch, also known as the inertia switch is located on the driver's side..... behind the kick panel. which is down by your feet - by the peddles, but closer to the brake. Remove the kick panel carefullyas there are plastic clips holding it on and can break easily; once the kick panel is removed...you will see the cut-off switch..it's a red button.
To turn the fuel pump off:
- The red cut-off switch button has a small slot opening that's located directly under the button on one side. You have to stick a thin flat head screw driver or pin, etc, into the slot opening until the red button pops up to the un-engaged position. Once the button has popped up, the fuel pump will be turned off.
To turn the fuel pump back on:
- just push the button down to the engaged position. After pushing the red button to turn the pump back on, turn the key to the accessory position for like 3-5 secs, this action wil allow your fuel pump to turn on.
**( if your pump is working properly you should be able to faintly hear the fuel pump "winding" / "running" when you turn the key to the accessory position for a few secs.)**
- Once those 3-5 secs pass by then turn the key back to the off position; then try to starting the car again. if your pump is good everything else is okay you should be able to start car!

The EGR valve on the Villager/Quest is located at the top-rear drivers ride of the intake plenum. You will see 2 parts that look almost identical. They look almost like 2 little flying saucers. One is the BPT and the other is the EGR valve. A common problem on these vans, is the rubber tube that goes between the two parts. This hose usually cracks and splits or becomes plugged with carbon. This will trip the check engine light and an EGR code will be present. Replace the little rubber hose (its usually in stock at your Ford or Nissan dealer) and you should be good to go.Good Luck!
