Why would the airbag flash on a 1996 Mercury Villager?

TAke it to the dealer and they have a chart to check out the function of the air bag. As long as the light is flashing, it will not work. A flashing airbag light can indicate that the airbag is in diagnostic mode. It can be put into this mode by manually pressing the switch in the driver's door, that controls the interior lights (I believe the technician must press it 5 times in 7 seconds or something to that effect). I suspect however that if your door is poorly fitted, it might cause this switch to be activated in a similar way, therefore inadvertently causing the airbag to go into a diagnostic mode. I found this re-set sequence on another site and it worked for me. I think it said something about some type of power surge kicking the airbag into diagnostic mode. This sequence puts it back into normal mode and the flashing stops: 1) Open the driver's side door. 2) Put the key in the ignition and turn to ON (but don't start the vehicle) 3) Within 7 seconds of turning the key to ON, push the driver's side door switch button at least 5 times. 4) The Air Bag light should go solid...give it at least 7 seconds, and it should begin to blink a 3 second, 2 second on/off pattern. 5) Turn ignition to OFF and remove key. 6) Start vehicle, and wait for the Air Bag light to turn off to verify that it worked.

How do you make the radio lights come on the stereo of a 1999 mercury villager estate?

The radio lights are supposed to come on when you turn on your headlights and adjust with the rest of your dashboard lights. I had this problem when I purchased my 1995 Mercury Villager back in 1997 with a mere 33k miles on the odometer. I believe the mechanic replaced the display panel under warranty. I have not had a problem since. I will look for that work authorization and get back to you if it was something different. I am not sure If your problem is the same but it is worth exploring replacing the display panel. Good Luck

Where is the reset switch for fuel pump on a 1995 mercury villager?

The "Fuel Shut-Off Reset Switch" on a 1995 Mercury Villager should be in the same location as on the 1996 model. Look below the Hood Release Latch on the lower side kick panel. There is a red button that can be accessed through a small opening on the kick panel. Once the button is in the lower position, you will have to pry the kick panel off and use a small regular screwdriver to pop the button back up by putting the screwdriver into a small slot just below the button.

Must the fuel tank be removed in order to test the fuel pump in a 1993 Jaguar XJ6?

ANSWER I experienced fuel pump problems with my 1993 XJ6: before removing the pump check the pump relay which is situated in the boot - to the rear of the radio aerial. Check the leads to the pump. Remove filler cap and listen while someone turns on the ignition - you should hear the pump running for a couple of seconds - no noise then pump is not working. Removing the tank isn't too bad except for removing the connections at the bottom of it. They are accessible from under the car but only just. Haynes manual suggests dropping the rear transmission but I managed (just) without going to those lengths. Once the tank is out reoving the pump isn't too bad a task but take care with removing it from the plastic 'can'. Replacement (pattern) pumps are available from David Manners Ltd. circa

How do you reset the radio after you replace the battery in a 2000 Mercury Villager Estate?

Do you have an owner's manual? If not, purchase one from a dealer as the reset procedure is not difficult to do but, lengthy to write out here. If I recall correctly, all U hav 2 do is dial up a station and hold in the appropriate button you want it set on 4 a few seconds until it "beeps". Then it's "locked in"!

Would the throttle positioning sensor make a 1984 Pontiac Fiero idle high between 3000 and 3500 RPMs?

it could but, there are many things you should check first before you start throwing parts at you car.some things you can do yourself.check for vaccum leaks by removing you air cleaner assembly(if 4 cyl.) and listen for any out of the ordanary hissing sounds, also visually inspect all hoses related to vaccum.the beautiful thing about a fiero is it was very advanced for its time. If you take it to a garage they can put it on a scan tool and check for codes, they can also watch the sensors on datastream.this should point the finger at a faulty sensor if that's the problem

How many belts does a Mercury Sable have?

That would very much depend on the model year.

You should be able to look at the front of the engine and actually count them.

One thing they all do have though is what is known as the serpentine belt.
