According to allpar's writeup on the 2.4 engine the tops of the pistons are cut to allow for valve clearance should the timing belt brake. Therefore it is a non- interference engne.

If you have a bad injector, chances are that you will also have a dead cylinder. Auto zone can check that for free if your engine light is on!

No, the 3.0 V6 in a 1993 Mercury Villager is NOT and interference engine.

1 Remove the plug on the oil pan with a wrench and drain the oil into a drain pan. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Place a support jack under the crankshaft pulley.

2 Remove the support bolts on the front and rear engine mounts, along with the hold-down brackets on the two rear refrigerant/heater pipes.

3 Disconnect the front and rear transaxle bolts and the brace holding the transaxle to the engine. Unhook the connector on the oil level sensor.

4 Loosen the bolts on the oil pan, working from the outside towards the center. Remove the pan and scrape away the old seal with a paint scraper. Make sure that all the parts are clean, and that the old gasket seal has been completely removed.

5 Put a new gasket in place and seal it with silicone sealer. Replace the oil pan and tighten the bolts in sequence, starting with the inner bolts and working out.

6 Replace the connector on the oil level sensor, the front and rear transaxle braces, the exhaust inlet pipe, the crossmember bolts and crossmember, and the front and rear engine support through-bolts.

7 Slide out the support jack and lower the vehicle. Fill the engine with clean oil. Mercury recommends that the optimum oil for the Villager is SAE 5W-30.

Idle speed is set by the PCM and IS NOT ADJUSTABLE.

The fuel pump is located in the tank, and the tank must be removed to access it.

The Villager PCM is located far under the dash, near the firewall. It requires a fair amount of disassembly to reach it, so I'd suggest actually making sure there is something wrong with it before attempting it.

Engine oil goes in the oil cap which is right on the front of the engine and has a picture of an oil can on it.

If you mean the fuel pressure regulator it's mounted on the end of the front fuel rail buy the intake manifold.

Just unscrew the rear brake light, turn out the socket, and replace the bulb.

It is my understanding that Villager engine are non-interference.

I would check the rear bulbs. I just had this issue and it ended up my brother had used the wrong bulb, and odd enough it caused the brake lights to stay on with headlights. When headlights were not on and you applied the brakes the dash would light and brake lights worked. Strange, HUH? I must admit before this revelation, I replaced headlight switch and brake switch, with no avail.

It would be in the relay box under the hood near the battery.

First, let me state that you should have a repair manual handy while working on these engines. While most procedures are common, some require more attention to detail.

Cylinder head bolt torque is one of those jobs.

On the Villager, replacing both gaskets is most easily done by removing the engine from the vehicle.

belt it self has timing dots on it, line it up with cam dots and crank dot.

The water pump is located on the front or right side of the engine. To find it, remove the drive belt cover. On the front or right end of the engine. To find it, remove the drive belt cover.

Facing the door from the inside, there is plastic trim on the frame on the LEFT side of the window, take the trim off and there should be two (2) large cut out holes where you can see a stud with a nut on it. The nut should be 10mm socket, loosen the nuts all the way off and from the outside of car pull the window hinge frame straight out towards you. reverse the same to install new window and use Phillips scew driver to attach the right side window clamp (right side from the inside of car) and your done.
