How do you get rid this message that pops up on your computer screen with almost every mouse click -Documents has encountered a problem and needs to close -Please tell Microsoft about this problem?

My colleague just asked me the same but for him the error message appears whenever he loads a new page in Internet Explorer. I tried searching for the answer and it seems like some people have the same problem but that no one seems to be able to identify the course. There is a detailed erroro message that informs that the error occurred in the module "documents". However the word "documents" is a little too general to understand what it really is. Apparently the computer in question has been scanned for viruses so that is at least not the obvious answer. What is this module "documents"?

What are the two commnds in the USMT?

and

loadstate which is the machine that you are restoring from.

What happens if index.dat files are deleted?

Improved Answer

Actually index.dat files are used by Internet Explorer to keep your history and other information organized. Deleting them will not do anything to harm your computer and most cleaning software will delete these files, which will allow your computer to preform faster.

Since index.dat files are actually just files and has nothing to do with hardware, you have nothing to worry about when deleting them. Just make sure you have a reason for doing so. As stated above, Internet Explorer does use them for pulling information.

Original Answer

the programs that would use them will not run anymore. sometimes it will crash your computer (blue screan) or burn out a peace of hardware (hard drive, ram)

When you used windows live movie maker the only option is to used DVD maker to burn photos to disc All the settings are not carried over to DVD maker eg it did not separate the photos into groups with?

No. You don't have to use the burn feature in Windows Live Movie Maker. The best way to finish your video in Live Movie Maker is by Publishing it to your computer first.

Once you have Published it to your computer, use whatever burn software you want to use.

Is it OK to just turn off the computer or use the property shut-down procedure when finished with using it.?

It is always best to use the proper shut down sequence when turning off your computer, because there are many programs which are constantly being used in memory, however in the case of an emergency (lightning storm) or a system freeze, it is better to manually turn it off.

How do you assign the same drive letter all the time?

Each hard disk can only have one Drive letter. You can't have two drives labeled "C" for instance. However, if you are asking about a USB device getting the same letter, then the best way to make sure you get the same letter is to keep that device always connected. Once you disconnect such device, then all bets are off. Say that you have for example an external hard drive (assigned to F) and a USB flash drive (assigned to G). If you disconnect them both and tomorrow (or even today) you connect the USB flash drive first and the hard drive next, then the flash drive will get the letter F and the external hard drive will get the letter G. This is based on the fact that the computer assigns letters based on what is already connected and goes down the alphabet in order from there on regardless of what you connect next.

Rubbish bin was accidentally deleted off your desktop How can you retrieve it?

If you are using Windows Vista: Right click on the desktop (empty area where there are no icons), then click on 'Personalize'. In the right pane, click 'Change desktop icons'. On the 'Desktop Icon Settings' window, make sure 'Recycle Bin' is checked, then click on 'OK'. If you are using an earlier version of windows, the steps might be different. The display properties do not allow you to show/hide the recycle bin.

What can you do to fix a virus on a computer when the message appears that windows explorer has stopped working and windows is checking for solution to the roblem which was 15 hours ago?

Windows explorer error... try thisAre you sure is a virus? Because it seems to be a common Vista error,

Well this is what a know so far, hope it helps... same thing happen to me last night. I checked for virus and spyware (with norton and windows defender) the notebook was clean, but the problem persisted.

Just this morning I wrote to HP Costumer Care, here is what they said:

"The issue could be due to corrupted operating system files, incorrect

Internet settings, etc..

I request you to perform the following options on your notebook in order

to isolate and resolve the issue.

If the issue persists, then please perform the full recovery in order

to resolve the issue.

For more information about Using HP Recovery Manager, please refer the

below link :

Select the option Restore PC to original condition with the Recovery

Manager if Windows Vista cannot be accessed in the link:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&docname=c00809678

NOTE: Clicking the link may give an error indicating it is

invalid. Copy and paste the entire link in a new browser window.

This should resolve the issue."

I haven't tried anything yet.

Also, I read on a forum that someone with the same problem turned off User Account Control and that solved the issue.

I'm going to try to change the folder options, then I'll try to turn off the Usser Account Control (which is pretty much an useless application) and finally I'll try the recovery.

The worst part is that since the message appears about every 8 seconds you don't have much time to work in the solution, try over and over again till you do it fast enough

How would you open files in a previous user account's folder if it is restricted or has a password?

To the best of my knowledge all you need to do is be listed as the "Computer Administrator." You are then given authority to do whatever you want with the computer.

If that user was in the administrators group you just gotta get the password. Windows is built like that for this exact reason!!!
