It sounds like you are pregnant again. See if they can do an ultrasound to see if they can see a baby or a heartbeat.
It is possible, crazy as it sounds, for a baby to survive a D&C! A number of cases have been documented.
Something else that is a possibility is that the pregnancy was a hydatiform mole, when the baby doesn't grow and everything else grows too much. If there was any tissue left behind it could continue to grow, causing positive test results. You would definitely need to see a doctor either way.
2/4/2010: It is INDEED possible. I, myself, am living proof. It happened to me as an embryo and here I am now. True story.

You are 6 weeks pregnant and you have been spotting brownish blood and cramping?
Hi, When I was seven weeks pregnant with my first child, I started bleeding and continued for the next four weeks. During that time I had three ultrasounds, all of which showed a developing baby with a heartbeat. After bleeding four weeks, one of my nurses whispered confidentially that maybe I was too busy and should rest for a week. I was working a full time job, taking two college courses, doing aerobics five days a week. I did rest and fortunately the bleeding stopped. That child is now fifteen years old. Make sure you visit your practictioner with any and all questions. They never did determine why I bled so long. I am eight weeks pregnant with my seventh pregnancy, three of which were full-term deliveries, and three were miscarriages. I hope for a positive outcome for you. Hello All; I understand what you are all feelings. I am almost 9 weeks and last weekend I had brown discharge. I was so alarmed because last year I had what was termed a missed abortion. The doctor at ER took blood work and told me to come back the next day. It did and they compared the levels and informed me the pregnancy was terminated but to come back the next day for an ultrasound and arrangements will be made from there. I had the ultrasound last Monday and there was a strong heart beat and the size was correct. I was so happy to hear the heart beat but afraid to get excited yet. I still have brown discharge off and on and use a panyliner. I hope eveythings works out for all of us. best wishes Erica

If you don't know you are pregnant, then it could simply be your period. Periods can be late for a number of reasons, including stress. However, if you are pretty sure you are pregnant, perhaps because you are experiencing symptoms such as breast soreness, Montgomerys tubercles, tiredness, headaches, a metallic taste in your mouth, insomnia and increased vaginal secretions, then bleeding and cramps are nearly always a bad sign. Bleeding alone, or cramping alone, can be nornal symptoms, but both together almost always indicates a miscarriage. If you are miscarrying, then you should be passing large clots, some up to the size of your fist, and extremely painful sharp cramping. You should call your doctor and get medical treatment, in case you need a D&C or other procedure to clear out your uterus, as not all miscarriages happen totally naturally and need some help, You also need emotional support to come to terms with the loss of your baby. If you are not passing big clots then you are probably just having a period. Miscarriage bleeding tends to pour out of you like a tap has been turned on, whereas period bleeding is usually slower than that.

How soon can you take clomid after a miscarriage?
Well, it depends how early or late your miscarriage happened! You should of course consult with your doctor how long should you wait to TTC again. A rule of thumb, if I can call it that way, is that you should wait at least as long as your pregnancy lasted. For example, if you had a miscariage in week 8 of your pregnancy you should wait 8 weeks, so around two periods and then you are free to TTC again and of course with the help of clomid, if prescribed by a doctor. Trying to make yourself miscarry never works. You will just end up hurting yourself. It is very hard to hurt a baby in the womb.

Is it possible to have a complete miscarriage without DC?
I would answer and say yes it is possible....I have miscarried 5 times and have never had a D & C.
, I am going through the same thing right now so I know exactly how you feel. I went for my 8 wk check up on 12/21/09 and was told after the u/s that the u/s only showed 5 wk and a few days. The doc told me I miscarried and took my blood. It was 17,000; I went back and took the blood again and it only rose slightly over a hundred. I went back for another u/s one week exactly after the first u/s and was told it showed the same sac and the yolk sac has grown and is large. I don't understand why the yolk sac has grown if I miscarried. The doc insists I miscarried, but I still haven't bled or had any symptoms whatsoever. According to them I miscarried around 5-6 weeks ago. I've been told the bleeding will start anytime or to have a D&C or take use the medication to start the bleeding. I'm scared b/c I'm holding out hope that my baby is just a slow developer. I go for another u/s in a week and 2 days after the 2nd u/s to see if anything has changed.
