It is possible, crazy as it sounds, for a baby to survive a D&C! A number of cases have been documented.

Something else that is a possibility is that the pregnancy was a hydatiform mole, when the baby doesn't grow and everything else grows too much. If there was any tissue left behind it could continue to grow, causing positive test results. You would definitely need to see a doctor either way.

Hi, When I was seven weeks pregnant with my first child, I started bleeding and continued for the next four weeks. During that time I had three ultrasounds, all of which showed a developing baby with a heartbeat. After bleeding four weeks, one of my nurses whispered confidentially that maybe I was too busy and should rest for a week. The doctor at ER took blood work and told me to come back the next day. Trying to make yourself miscarry never works. You will just end up hurting yourself. It is very hard to hurt a baby in the womb.

If you cause it on your own it is an abortion unless it is an accident like being hit with a car etc. For abortion you need to see a doctor.

It can mean thert you're only SLIGHTLY pregnant, meaning you'll only have a slight baby. probably just the legs and an arm.

, I am going through the same thing right now so I know exactly how you feel. I went for my 8 wk check up on 12/21/09 and was told after the u/s that the u/s only showed 5 wk and a few days. The doc told me I miscarried and took my blood. It was 17,000; I went back and took the blood again and it only rose slightly over a hundred. I went back for another u/s one week exactly after the first u/s and was told it showed the same sac and the yolk sac has grown and is large. I don't understand why the yolk sac has grown if I miscarried. The doc insists I miscarried, but I still haven't bled or had any symptoms whatsoever. According to them I miscarried around 5-6 weeks ago. I've been told the bleeding will start anytime or to have a D&C or take use the medication to start the bleeding. I'm scared b/c I'm holding out hope that my baby is just a slow developer. I go for another u/s in a week and 2 days after the 2nd u/s to see if anything has changed.

i had that too, Im currently 6 weeks pregnant and don't have an ultrasound for another 2 weeks

i have had 3 miscarriages aswell and am now 8 w 4 d pregnant again, i have had alot of cramping like period pains and its normal, i went for early scan at 7w 1d and strong heartbeat found. i have got further than i have done in the past as h/b has never been found.. if your worried go n c your doc they may refer u for an early scan to put your mind at rest as worrying is not good for u or the baby.. i have also been put on baby asprin!! good luck n hope everything is ok!!

Bcp don't cause miscarriage. They can be taken as morning after pills but as soon as you are pregnant it will not work. You have to see a doctor.

It is possible that you have retained part of the placenta or fetus. If a D & C was not done at the time of miscarriage material can be retained. You need to check with your doctor. If you have retained something it can cause a life threatening infection.
