It could just be to early in your pregnancy to detect it on a test . I had 3 negative pregnancy tests even a blood test at the DR and I was indeed pregnant....about five weeks. And 8 months later delivered a healthy baby girl. However I did have a miscarriage about two months before I concieved her. I was bleeding for about to weeks straight and passing big blood clots. I went to the Dr and there was a gestational sac, but no embryo in it. they did a blood test and checked my HCG(pregnancy hormone) levels once a week and they got lower and lower, indicating the pregnancy was terminating. However dont panic just because you are bleeding it can be a normal sign of pregnancy as long as its not accompianed by cramping. I was late on my period so i went to a youth clinic where i had two pregnancy tests which both came back negative. they put me on the pill and my pill free week came when i usually have a period it started with light brown spotting, which became very heavy and bright red and i then began to get very bad stomach pains which i put down to period pains because i do have heavy very painful periods where i have fainted before. It's different for every woman. The good thing is that an abortion does not have a lingering effect and miscarriages are quite common and didn't have to have anything to do with your age. If I were you I would go to my OB/GYN and take a test to see how fertile you are. That's a good place to start I think. The OB/GYN can tell you what the chances are specifically for you.

If you started your period a week later, its highly unlikely that you had a miscarriage. It depends how long ago your miscarriage was. As you don't start showing until 14-15 weeks it is possible you had a miscarriage, one of twins and you are still pregnant with the other. Take a pregnancy test if it was more than 4 weeks ago.

You do need to see a doctor about this to see if you may still be pregnant. Babies can survive quite a lot of bleeding and there are many documented cases of them or a twin escaping even a D&C.

The other possibility is that you had a hydatidiform mole which is a condition where nothing develops properly, but makes cancerous-type growths which can spread if left untreated. This is uncommon, but either way, you should see a doctor.
