Mitsubishi Eclipse

I have the same question. It is quite important when I am going to buy a used Colt, which has drived 70000 to 90000 kilometer. I don't understand why Mitsubishi doesn't mention it on manual or somewhere?!

Go to http://www.mitsubishiforum.com/forumid_233/tt.htm The forum website has the 3rd generation Service Manuals. Look at section 22A - Manual Transaxle.pdf which has detailed diagrams and the disassembly/removal steps of the Shift Lever Assembly on page 22A-13.

The only differences are cosmetic. The 97-99's got a smoother front and rear fascia and the turbos got a huge rear spoiler. The reverse lights moved to be integrated with the bumber instead of around the license plate. The 99 GS came with a turbo package without the turbo(Spoiler, OZ racing wheels and black on white instruments like all the turbos). All the non-turbos still had the clunky high revving Chrysler 2.0 DOHC that the 1996 had. I do wonder about the suspension though, my '99 was smoother than a '98 I drove. But engine-wise and cockpit wise-the 1996 is the same as the 1998.

Open the hood, and in the closest part to the drivers seat of the inner hood, there are 2 recipients one large and one tiny, the large prolly has BRAKE FLUID written, the other one (tiny one) is the transmission fluid recipient.

1. Open the boot lid and drivers door, and switch on the ignition. Press central locking switch (in the centre console) 5 times. The siren will chirp to indicate it has entered learning mode.

2. Press the lock button of the remote, the system will chirp to confirm it has received the remote.

3. To program further remotes, press the central locking switch once. The system will chirp twice for remote number two, then press the lock button of the remote as above.

4. Wait for 30 seconds for the system to close and chirp twice.

This basically resets the programming for the remotes.

The compression ratio is 8.5:1 supercharged motor and 9.4:1 for the non-supercharged motor.

The sensor is located under the intake manifold on the drivers side (US).

If the 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage won't start and has the service engine light on, you probably have an issue with a sensor. This could be a problem with an electrical or oxygen sensor.

You should be able to find it under the front passenger seat.

best way to see it is remove coolant lines on the left side of your motor, and remove the air intake, after that the starter is located underneath the intake manifold. remove the positive battery terminal from the car battery, remove the nuts at the end of each lead, and remove the clipse, remove all bolts and it shud pull right out. even easier to remove the battery and tray as well for supplemental amount of room

Either unbolting of the old one(very rusty at times) and simply bolting on the new one, or if you have a factory welded one, cutting the old one out will be necessary, then the new one will be fitted in place, and welded. as simple as it sounds, it really isnt if you dont have the proper equipment.

Isn't that easy, the Bellhousing its different, the Eclipse uses Hydaulic Clutch, and the shift cables are different too.

Try searching the web for the model of the vehicle. There's bound to be a few websites out there dealing with that specific make and model.
