How can an osteopath be board certified in neurology?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The U.S. trained osteopath can become a board certified neurologist after several years of training. 1st the D.O. had to pass college, the MCAT, and medical school. Then this D.O. would have to be accepted into a Neurology residency program and then go to residency and then pass the Neurology boards. If the DO do this, then the DO will be able to call itself a board-certified neurologist.

Most D.O. neurologists just wanted to become neurologist and med school was just a means to an end. All US trained DO neurologists wish that the DO degree would change to MD or MD,DO. No DO neurologists do manipulation, so they would rather have the MD title. The very old stubborn dumb DOs in the AOA tightly control the title DO and don't want change so nothing ever changes.
