I believe it is located in the fuel tank.

Take it apart, install new shaft bushings and brushes. Check diodes and regulator, replace any defective components.

Check for loose spark plug wires, make sure all electrical connections are tight and contacts are clean, Replace Throttle position sensor. When the sensor is failing, it makes the car feel like its loosing power at different speeds, the car for example may be just fine at 65mph but at 30 mph the car may seem to be missing, and that means replace the throttle position sensor, also change the exhaust manifold sensor. The 1997 olds are excellent cars,my neighbor has one with 195,000 miles on it and it runs just fine,excellent gas mpg for that size car too.

The exact location of the PCV valve on a 3.8L engine depends on the year. On models 1995 through 1998 and 1999 and 2003, it is on the front valve cover. However, on 1996 through 1998 models it is on the rear valve cover.

Replacing a caliper isn't too bad, and on your year of car, you will have to take the front wheel off, and stare at the caliper. Behind it on the top and bottom are two recessed bolts that you will need a Hex Bit to remove (autozone had this, don't let them sell you a torx bit, this is a simple hex, like a vey LARGE Allen wrench) after doing so, use a clamp and compress the cylynder within the caliper jut a small amount, and slide it of the rotor.

DEPENDS ON WHAT MOTOR YOU HAVE,BUT IF ITS A 3800 ITS RIGHT BEHIND THE BALANCER.MUST REMOVE THE BALANCER, THAN UNBOLT SENSOR BE SURE THAT WHEN YOU INSTALL IT... THAT THE RING ON THE BALANCER DOES NOT HIT THE SENSOR OUR YOU WILL BE DOING IT AGAIN.

I got stuck at the harmonic balancer because on my 1996 98 regency elite it seems you have to take the engine mount bracket off because, one of the arms to the bracket is secured over the top of the sensor to the engine block maybe this will help someone avoid alot of work they might not be able to handle lol

It is under the outlet where the upper radiator hose joins the engine.

To change it:

Remove the two bolts, the housing comes off and the thermostat is under it. It is a tiny thermostat.

To install the new one, you will need two gaskets. The rubber gasket that goes around the thermostat and the regular gasket in between the outlet and the engine block.

Okay, a fuel leak can occur at any point in the fuel lines, which on an olds are probably alluminum pipes from the tank to the firewall, at which point they turn to a rubber hose to the injectors or carbeuretor. (You have injectors). If you want to find it yourself, grab a few rags, some flour, and a few hours free time.

Follow the fuel lines from the gas tank, and wipe them clean and dry. Dip out some flower, and coat the lines. Anywhere fuel leaks after running the lines should be visible as a wet flour clump.

the master cylinder is below the steering column in the engine bay, there is a tube and dipstick that run up the firewall into a bracket on the drivers side bolt on firewall cover.

Under the center-right of the dashboard, you can pinpoint it by opening your hood and following two black rubber hoses ((1 inch thick approx) that go from the engine through the firewall into the passenger compartment one feeds hot water from the engine to the heater core and the other takes it back to the engine, the core is inside the engine compartment under the dash just in frolnt of where those hoses enter.

It's not the easiest thing to do. After removing the door panel which is a quite a task itself, the old window motor and regulator are riveted to the door frame by four or five rivets. They have to be drilled out, then the regulator and motor can be moved out of the door. There are then four more rivets that hold the motor to the regulator which also have to be drilled out. Once you get the window motor off the regulator you can attach the new motor to the regulator with 1/4 inch bolts and nuts. Then the regulator gets reinstalled and fastened to the door frame also with 1/4 inch bolts and nuts. You can then reassemble the interior door panel and enjoy your working electric window. This whole process took me about 6 hours, including running to the hardware store for the nuts and bolts.

you need to check fuel pressure while car is losing power .auto shops have extended hoses on their fuel pressure tester so they can close hood and see the gauge while driving, if pressure drops when trying to accellerate check for clogged fuel filter if pressure is good and car die while your foot is on gas check for clogged catalytic converter. also check for trouble codes with a scanner. most common problems for your car are bad fuel pumps,bad cam and crank sensors, bad mas air flow sensor,and faulty ignition coil packs and ignition modules, also a misfire will cause damage to you catalytic converter
