Where is the thermostat located on a 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette?
Follow the top radiator hose down to the engine. It is in the water outlet.
Why would there be oil in your radiator?
Odds are you have blown a head gasket and the antifreeze and oil flow share the same gasket. As the gasket wears, the antifreeze mixes into the oil and vice versa! I suggest replacing your current antifreeze and do a full flush. Test it for a few days and test if you have oil again. A tell tell sign of a blown head gasket is black smoke (burning oil) or white smoke (burning antifreeze ) coming out the exhaust.

Why does the turn signals come on when the break is pressed on a 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette?
I recently had similar problem w/my brake lights, turn signals, etc... What you need to do is to check your circuit boards and the weather pack connectors behind your taillight assemblies first. To remove your taillight assemblies you need to open the rear hatch. Look at each taillight assembly along the inside edge & you will see 2 bolt hole areas that have 2 Torx head bolts (T-20/25 I believe) and remove them. Don't lose them, as it is difficult to replace the original bolts. They are metric 6.0mmx1.0 pitch, if I recall, but you can get some similar Allen head cap bolts that will work just as well. Once you remove the bolts, you gently pull it toward you to remove them from the van. Turn them over and you will see a semi rectangular box with wires running to it with 4 clips (2 on each side) holding the board in place. Push each clip gently away from the board to free the board. Gently pull the board away from the light housing, make sure not to damage any of the 4 bulbs inside as you pull. Once you do this you can check for bad, broken or missing bulbs, replace w/like bulbs only;3056,3156,3057 these #'s are on the board and bulb. Look at the connector at the top of each board which can be removed by pushing away the clip on the side and pulling it away. Look for damaged or burned pins on both the connector (1 of my problems was, I solved by replacing the connector with a spare piece of wiring harness I had). Also there may be problems with the board itself (I solved by getting them on Ebay or online parts stores, or worst case, from the dealer, they are expensive there, you just have to check them. Usually if one or the other is dim or not working right, this indicates a problem. Also for about $10.00 or so you can buy a replacement Stoplight switch (Another 1 of my problems as I had lost all my lights except the 3rd brakelight). This is at the Brake pedal assembly under the dash. You will have to remove a cover panel to get to it, you simply have to gently work w/it to pull the clip & switch out ( Best way is to reach under while you are kneeling into the van from outside, much simpler to get to that way. Once you get it out, gently work the plugs out of the switch and remove. Take the new switch, plug the plugs into their respective sockets and then match where the mounting clip goes on the threads of the new switch to where the old switch mounting was, this helps w/ proper function of the switch once it is reinstalled, you may see some difference in color to help you determine how much, then align the mounting clip to the bracket at the pedal and push it in till it seats and the clips retain it in place. Also helps to remove the fuses for the hazard & stoplights (15 Amp blue fuses) from the fuse panel, to avoid shorts, which is on the passenger side end of the dashboard, while working on the lights. Make sure to check & recheck your work to make sure everything works before & after you reinstall the boards & taillight assemblies. To reinstall the boards to the taillight assemblies align the board to the back, gently feed the bulbs through the 4 holes & push gently downward at each tab to seat the board completely to the taillight, re-clip the wiring harness back to where it was removed from, routing the harness along the side of the board. Reinstall the Taillight assembly back to the van by aligning the pins to each of their holes & push gently but firmly inward to seat them, then replace the mounting bolts (2 each) in the holes where they were removed. Recheck your work to make sure everything still works correctly & your done!!!! For me, w/ trips to the Auto parts store, it took me @ 21/2 hours to do all the repairs. My lights now all work as good as new!!!!! Some information can be found in your owners manual, from repair manuals for your van, some online sites, you just need to search, ie: Ebay & its stores, or your local dealer, if you ask them. Hope this helps as it did solve my problems that I had with mine.
OK I did it today. The lock actuator was not unlocking the rear door hatch. I went into the back of the van after removing the left middle seat. I dropped down the rear bench. Pull the top of the cover panel on the hatch down starting at the top. Be careful not to break anything. Most of the time you will be able to reuse the attachment clips. Pull the center of the panel away from the door at the bottom of the window. Now using a flashlight look down between the panel and the door. Pull away the plastic cover. Look right down into the bottom and see the lock/actuator assembly. Using a flat bladed screw driver you can flip the lock clip manually until the door opens. It is small and located on the right side closest to you. Good luck.

What are signs of a bad front wheel bearing assembly on a 1997 Oldsmobile Silhouette?
Hi, I just had a left front wheel bearing replaced on my '02 Silhouette. Symptoms that the part needed to be replaced include: --Whirring noise coming from faulty bearing while driving --Noise increases when turning steering wheel to opposite side of bad bearing (e.g., moving wheel to right with a bad left bearing) --No noise while vehicle is stopped Parts could cost up to $250 depending where it's purchased and who manufactured it. Labor is about 2 hours since wheel and disk brakes have to be removed and re-installed. Hope this helps

Can you tow with Olds Silhouette premiere?
Yes, but you should have the Towing Package, which I believe just adds an extra cooling fan to the engine. I use a ball hitch to tow a 10x6 Utility Trailer (which at times has been loaded with heavy stuff!) and it works great. Place the heaviest items over the axle of the trailer so there's not too much tongue-weight, which can weigh down the back end of your van. The Silhouette is rated to tow 3500lbs.
