Does Witchcraft have a degree system?

Within Wicca, there are 3 degrees in the degree system.

"First degree: Is for those newly coming into the Craft. As you will see elsewhere in the information about Initiation, this brings the new Witch into the Coven, connects them with the Coven group-mind, connects them to the Inner Plane power sources which that Coven and Tradition works with, and Initiates- starts them on their path in a powerful and guided way.

Second degree: Marks the beginning of a deeper path within the Craft, and acknowledges the commitment, work and effort that the 2nd degree candidate has made following their first degree initiation.

Third degree: Is granted to those of sufficient experience and knowledge who are either in a working partnership together and are going to leave their parent Coven to form a new one, or for a small number of individuals who do not have a working Craft partner to form a new Coven with, and who have been Initiates for sufficiently long that they are becoming Elders of the Craft and of their Coven."

Hope this helps. :)

What is the exact year of origin of neo-paganism?

Your question is impossible to answer due to many factors such as what you are classifying as neo paganism. Up until 1951 when the last law against Witchcraft was repealed in England there were no people that spoke up about pagan relgions as being true religions that are still practiced today. Dr. Gerald Gardner of England shortly after 1951 developed and introduced "Wicca" and more specifically Gardnerian Witchcraft to the world. Everyone else seemed to run with his ideas and develop new branches of paganism which would later be lumped together under the umbrella term of neo paganism.

How do you celebrate inta raymi in Peru?

Before the colonial Spaniards banned the ceremonial events occurring each Winter Solstice the natives of Peru gathered to honor the Sun God, sacrifice an animal to ensure good crops and to pay homage to the Inca, as the first born Son of the Sun. The ceremonies took place at the winter solstice, when the sun is farthest from the earth. Fearing the lack of sun and ensuing famine, ceremonies were held to honor the Sun God and plead for his return. The celebrants fasted for days before the event, refrained from physical pleasures and presented gifts to the Inca, who in return put on a lavish banquet of meat, corn bread, chicha and coca tea as they prepared to sacrifice llamas to ensure good crops and fertile fields.

In 1572, Viceroy Toledo banned Inti Raymi celebrations as pagan and contrary to the Catholic faith. Following the edict, the ceremonies went underground.

Today, it is the second largest festival in South America. Hundreds of thousands of people converge on Peru from other parts of, South America and the world for a week long celebration marking the beginning of a new year, the Inti Raymi, or the Festival of the Sun. The centerpiece of the festival is the all-day celebrations on June 24, the actual day of Inti Raymi. the ceremonial events begin with an invocation by the Sapa Inca. The Sapa Inca calls on the blessings from the sun. Following the oration, Sapa Inca is carried on a golden throne in a procession to the ancient fortress in the hills above Cuzco Peru. With the Sapa Inca come the high priests, dressed in ceremonial robes, then officials of the court, nobles and others, all costumed according to their rank, with silver and gold ornaments. They parade along flower strewn streets, to music and prayers and dancing. Women sweep the streets to clear them of evil spirits. Speeches made and sacrifices over (Modern day celebrations act out the sacrifice and no animal is harmed) the sun begins to set, stacks of straw are set on fire and the celebrants dance around them to honor the Empire of the Four Wind Directions. Blessings on the people are given and a new year has begun.

Can you control the elements?

yes u can and i no that cause im a witch i have lots of spells in my book i can tell u some if u want.

A Pagan Perspective

Working with the elemental forces is something most practitioners of magic do regularly. The manipulation of naturally occurring powers (the elements among them) by the hand and will of an experienced and ethical practitioner is the definition of magic.

In truth, many of those new to the craft believe elemental work to be the easiest and yet over time they come to realise it takes a lot of practice, a precise hand and a strong will to do it well.

i can just about control the wind element so yeah

How pagans of mecca persecuted holy prophet?

The early persecution mainly took the form of laughing and sneering. Abu Lahab ("Uncle Rufus") interrupted and disrupted Mohammed's first public sermon. He then forced his sons to divorce Mohammed's daughters. Amr b al-Aas and Abdullah b al-Zibaari sang rude poems about Islam. Abu Lahab and Abu Sufyan demanded miracles and asked Mohammed to predict market prices. Abu Jahl ("Mr Stupid") verbally humiliated his Muslim relatives in front of the whole clan. Al-Nadr entertained crowds with Persian folk tales, then claimed: "Mohammed cannot tell a better story than I can, and [the Qur'an] is only old fables which he has copied, just as I have mine."

For a couple of years, the pagans stopped the Muslims worshipping at the Kaaba (Cube Temple). This was stopped by a big, socially powerful alpha male named Umar. After he became a Muslim, he fought off the Meccan aldermen who tried to block the Kaaba steps. Two Muslims, Saad and Hamza, became physically violent, after which the leading citizens of Mecca decided that each one would "deal with" the Muslims in his own family. One man locked up his son on bread and water, but relented when he realised that the young man really would rather die than renounce Islam. We also know the names of about a dozen Muslim slaves who were brutally attacked. Abu Jahl was particularly vicious and even killed one poor old lady. However, this was the only murder in the whole persecution. Another slave, Bilal, was pinioned under a rock on the hot desert sands and left to die; but he was rescued by Abu Bakr, who bought him by swapping him for one of his own pagan slaves.

In 616 the Meccan leaders agreed that nobody would trade or intermarry with Mohammed's family. This caused them significant economic hardship, but it did not suppress Islam. The alderman next tried flattery: they offered Mohammed women, money, political power and a good exorcist if only he would respect their gods. But he refused this offer too.

After Mohammed's powerful uncle died in 619, the pagans began to insult Mohammed personally. They threw dust at him in the street. Abu Lahab crept up behind him while he was praying and threw goat's entrails on his back. His wife dumped her household rubbish outside Mohammed's doorstep. Uqba b Abu Muayt also crept up behind Mohammed while he was praying, grabbed his cloak and tried to strangle him. Although Abu Bakr dragged Uqba away before any real harm was done, an eyewitness recalled this as "the worst act of hostility that anyone ever saw the Meccans show to Mohammed."

At this point, Mohammed started to make alliances with people from other tribes, and they swore a pact to fight the Meccans together. The Meccans found out and decided to evict or kill Mohammed. That is why Mohammed fled to Medina in 622.

What does White Magic and Black Magic refer to?

A Pagan Perspective

This seems to be a common question so to clear things up. Magic is the manipulation of naturally occurring powers by the will and hand of a magical practitioner. What few practitioners of any discipline come right out and say is all magic is manipulation.

I often use electricity as a mundane corollary. The energy itself is neither good nor bad. It is in its use that polarity can be attributed. When electricity is used to cook food, heat homes and light the darkness it is perceived as good. When it is used to torture people, damage things or kill someone, then it is perceived as bad or evil. The energy itself is neither, it simply is.

In the same way, magical energies are simply there. It is how we draw upon and use the energies that determine how they are perceived. There really is no such thing as "White/Good" magic or "Black/Bad" magic. It does however give those who do not practice, or wish to designate a polarity for the ethics of the practitioners.

The magical practitioner is the one who puts the polarity on the magic. It is very important that those of us who are magical practitioners are constantly vigilant of our practices, and motivations.

Answer 2:

Black magic in any religion and in general, is essentially aligning oneself with inferior/demonic spirits and trying to influence them to project negative energy to someone in the flesh, or being the innocent recipient of a demonic/black magic attack. Most demonic attacks or black magic are not initiated by someone on This Side but from one or more personalities on the Other Side (in the Spirit). If one wishes to rid oneself of the influence of inferior spirits, simply become more spiritually conscientious and reject that influence.

In contrast, white magic in any religion and in general is essentially aligning oneself with beneficent spirits and trying to influence them to project positive energy to someone in the flesh, or being the lucky recipient of a white magic blessing.

Near-death experience research confirms that there is a non-living higher power in operation on the Other Side. This higher power is often referred to as The Breath of God, The Light of God, or simply as The Light. We are all judged by The Light after death regardless of our belief system. We are judged by our application of The Golden Rule (or lack thereof), by our selflessness (or lack thereof), and by our character. How we have lived our life dictates how far we can go into The Light after bodily death. The higher the plane, the greater the expansion of consciousness and the more powerful the dimension of energy. The limit is not infinity, as no soul can grow into being endless, but spiritual excellence to the point of becoming a Co-Creator.

In light of this (pun intended), there is indeed absolute truth and absolute morality in existence, and we are all held accountable for our actions and even our intentions. It just doesn't seem that way, on This Side, until we return to the Other Side, the Primary Reality of The Light, and it all becomes happily (or painfully) clear.

Another view:

Some believe that "black" and "white" in magic refers more to whether one tries to manipulate events in unnatural ways or people against their will. Plus intent is a factor too.

For instance, take a love spell. A seduction spell would be considered Black magic as it is intended to force someone to love someone. On the other hand, an allure spell would be White magic since it only makes the seeker of the spell seem more attractive without tampering with the will of their target. The difference is that the Black magic version is about force or coercion, while the White magic version is about making the intended target more willing.

One of the problems with using coercive spells is that they can backfire. For instance, what if someone casts an enduring love spell on another to force someone to love them, and they end up with an abuser, rapist, or stalker? So not respecting the free will of others can have devastating consequences. So a spell to improve oneself or to alter perceptions of a particular person would be better as those respect the targets free will.

Spells that deal with death tend to be considered black magic. If you cast a death spell, there is always the possibility of it backfiring upon oneself and working against you rather than your intended target. That is obvious, but a spell to resurrect the dead can also be considered black magic since it may require that another person die to bring the desired person back to life. Thus in terms of karma, you'd be held responsible for that person's death.
