Yes, it is completely possible although for MOST woman improbable. If a woman's cycle is the general (overgeneralized IMHO) 28 days then the majority of woman will ovulate halfway between her menses which means midway through a woman's monthly cycle her LH (the hormone that makes the egg come into play) will surge. After than pregnancy can occur BEFORE ovulation occurs or after. This creates the situation for the egg to become fertilized and a pregnancy to occur.

Now, while the general ovulation period of a woman's cycle is roughly midway through the month after her cycle, it is not always at this time. If you have an erratic period then it is hard to tell when you ovulate unless you are one of the lucky that have heightened smell, sensitivity, or the feeling of heaviness as the egg drops. Even with a normal menstrual cycle you can ovulate right before or after your period.

Absolutely Its not safe, since your average cycle is 28 days and then your period starts on day 1 and ends on like day 4-7 so adding 5 days after that would almost bring you to the middle of your cycle when ovulation usually happens. Sperm enter you tubes and hang around for a couple of days waiting for you to release an egg and once that occurs.
