More than likely 5 quarts with filter change. Park vehicle on level surface. Change the oil/filter. Add 5 quarts and start the engine. Run for 1 minute and shut down for 30 minutes. Check the level and add as necessary to reach the full mark. You now know the capacity.

No. Mine didnt. I had a 66 catalina 4 dr. It was all original and had 4 wheel drum brakes.1969 was the first year front disc breaks were introduced.

An intake from a Pontiac 400 will fit a 389 as long as the engine, or more specifically, the heads are from model year 1965 or 1966.

Most Catalina's were equipped with a 389 cubic inch V-8 engine. The 2+2 sport models had a 421 cubic inch engine. The 389 engines came in different configurations that affected the horsepower rating. Open the hood and face the engine. On the front, left side (as you face it) of the engine block is a two letter engine code. You can reference that code against another source and determine a lot of other information about the engine.

There is no one source that establishes a firm value for your car. Edmunds and Kelley Blue Book used to establish baseline prices, but appear to have gotten out of the classics market.

You should research the advertised prices for cars similar to yours in terms of mileage and condition and price it based on the current market. Ebay, Autotrader, and Oldride are good starting points for comparison/contrast.

If you have it insured as a classic, and its condition is sufficiently good, your insurance provider may insist on an appraisal to establish an appropriate rate to charge you for insuring it.

the thermostat is located in between the water mouth on top of the intake manifold and the manifold its self..

Engines 389 and larger can be set for 6 degrees BTDC. Remember to disconnect and plug the vacuum advance hose before setting the base timing.

That would be a neat trick. The piston will not fit into the distributor cap. Remove intake and left side head (bank 1) the #1 piston is closest to front.
