In point of fact current copyright law (specifically the "fair use" exception) actually makes it easier for the newspaper industry by allowing them to use a portion of copyrighted material for purposes of news reporting or critique without spending the time & capital to obtain permission.

Cosmopolitan magazine is made in the USA. the philosophy of Cosmopolitanism was developed by Socrates ( I am not a Greek or an Athenian, but a citizen of the World!- hence a Cosmopolitan. The magazine is of US origin as is Vogue. Back in the pre-TV days a number of Newspapers of mixed US and French origin were headquarted in Paris, such as those of the Empire of James Gordon Bennett. Mr. Bennett sponsored such things as Air shows and auto races to get the gig up. He should not be confused with Floyd Bennett ( of Floyd Bennett Field fame) who was a U.S.N. air pilot who flew with Admiral Byrd. A number of newspapers such as the WORLD were controlled by James Gordon Bennett. This is alluded to in the song- Love, this is my song, which is probably about Anastasia and when she says the World cannot be wrong, she is referring to the Newspaper- known as Le Monde ( same meaning) in French.
