Writing a book is a horrible, exhausting struggle, like a long bout of some painful illness. One would never undertake such a thing if one were not driven on by some demon whom one can neither resist nor understand.

Remember when you were in the second grade and you wrote something you thought was the best thing ever written? Then it came back from the teacher covered in red marks, destroying you. That's what being a writer is, every single day. Particularly with the Internet and the loudmouths it inspires, a writer will hear constantly how much he/she sucks. And the bigger you get, the worse it will be. So if you don't believe in yourself, you'll be another of those writers who walks around with his head down, thoroughly depressed.

Column no 5 17 Jan 1993 jang newspaper?

I have been reading this email on Yahoo-HR group sent by someone that says Ahmed Faraz said something regarding having three books and Mohammad s.a.w having One.
This person or group of people also posted a link to Jung newspaper.
For the information of all those who are reading this email no such link exist nor has Jung group of companies offered any comments or there is any proof to dispel this allegation.
As such this is pure Bhooutan or accusation. Its just like a few years ago a rumor was very hot that President Musharraf is a Quadiani. When I did investigation, it turned out to be false. But that was just a rumor and nothing else.
Likewise now Ahmed Faraz is a target.
All Muslims are warned to stay away from this type of bhooutan as they will be answerable to Allah on the day of judgment.
Rasul Allah s.a.w. has made sure a Muslim understands that anyone who accuses someone without proof will go through this punishment in the grave " His/her head will be squashed with a boulder and every time that head is put together , it will be squashed again and again"
So now my question to all those out there who are eager to accuse someone just for fun is "" are you ready for the punishment in the grave"?
If not , then give up that which is past and say touba( repentance) and do you islaah ( correction) before you depart from this world.
May Allah keep us Muslims together and forgive our kabira(big) and Sageera(small) sins"

Why do authors put the heading in bold print?

Authors put headings in bold print to help readers easily identify different sections of a text. Bold headings also make it easier for readers to scan the content and quickly locate the information they are looking for. Additionally, bold headings can create visual hierarchy and improve the overall organization of the text.

Who is the youngest author ever to publish a book?

A novel is often defined as a work of fiction of around 40,000 words but nowadays usually comprises many more (70,000-150,000),

Novellas are defined as works of around 20,000 to 50,000 words, and novellettes as between 7,500 to 20,000 words (anything less is a short story).

Both short stories and novellettes are hard to sell to publisers in general.

A 'novelist' can be defined as an author of either novellas or novels.

Bearing this standard in mind, Daisy Ashford (1881-1972), full name Margaret Mary Julia Ashford, wrote the novella The Young Visiters: Or, Mister Salteena's Plan, published in 1919, when she was 9 years old, and qualifies her as (probably) the world's youngest novelist.

However her novella is often not recognized as a novel because it was 20,000-50,000 words long

Can you send your self published book to a publisher with view to publishing?

The short answer is - Yes. The good news is that it's easier than you might think and the rewards are far greater than through any other "publishing" method.

But there are lots of vanity publishers out there calling themselves "self publishing" companies. But that's and oxymoron.

You are "self publishing" if and only if you OWN the company that is doing the publishing.

Self publishing is not some service that anyone (individual or company) can provide for a writer. It just doesn't work that way.

How are the rules of soccer different today from they were 50 years ago?

One of the main changes, the offside rule, was introduced to prevent strikers from 'goal hanging'. Before the rule was introduced, players could basically stand by the oppositions goal and wait for a long pass, making it easier to score. The offside rule states that a player cannot participate in play if he is behind the second last opposition defender (which may include the opposition goal keeper) and ahead of the ball at the moment the ball is passed. If he does, an indirect free kick is awarded to the opposition team. This rule means that if the defenders are, for example, by the half way line, an opposing striker can't goal hang because, when he receives a pass, he will be in an offside position.

Does anyone ever actually win Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes?

Yes, there are real, actual winners, but not very many. Contrary to the TV commercials that show excited people who just won, the odds of the average person winning are very slim; the reason is the typical sweepstakes receives millions of entries but only gives a very few prizes. Some people send in hundreds of entries, hoping that will improve their odds, but it usually does not.
