Radio waves aren't harmful at its usual pattern of operation. They are harmful only when a strong signal is close to a person.

It can cause cancer and other problems. Radio waves may also cure. All waves have different results.

You are changing the capacitance of the main component that determines the

frequency of the "local oscillator" in the radio. The local oscillator mixes with all

of the radio signals that come in from the antenna, and converts them all down to

lower frequencies. The one signal that winds up converted to 10.7 MHz in an FM

radio (or 455 KHz in an AM radio) is the one that gets passed on and processed

by the rest of the guts of the radio. All the others get filtered out and discarded.

When the Titanic had sunk on April 15th, 1912, the radio officers before the sinking had lost their wireless radio and nobody could contact them to make sure that nothing was going wrong. They also had it set up to where you had shifts using the wireless radio, so there was a time where nobody was their to hear your cries for help or anything. That was a big problem when the Titanic had sunk because they couldn't have gotten the singles out soon enough and so therefor, it caused more people to die and less ships to help the survivors. So congress passed a law saying that their needed to be someone always available and someone always working the wireless radio. That is my small summary of the Radio Act of 1912.

Back in the 1920s, when there were enough radio stations that governments decided it was time to step in and regulate them (to avoid having their signals devour each other), there was an international conference to set up a workable worldwide system, and unique station identifications for each nation were created. The USA was allocated 'A', 'N', 'W', and 'K' as the first letter in all station call-signs licensed in this country. So far, commercial stations (AM. FM, TV) have been given call-signs beginning only with the 'K' and the 'W', but ham stations and other services get calls beginning with 'A' and 'N', in addition to 'W' and 'K'. To answer your question directly: The 'W' and 'K' mean that the station with that call-sign is licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to operate in the USA. Similarly, Mexico has 'X', Canada has 'C' and 'V', Spain has 'E', Germany has 'D', Russia has 'U', etc. etc.

I am almost positive.

Each car has a unique radio code. In the manual there is a perforated card that has the number. If you have the booklet check in there. I bought mine used and the card w/ number was still in there, fortunately.

-- Jury-rigging the interlock switch in your microwave oven, so that

you can run it with the door open.

-- Sitting down in a lawn chair to eat your lunch, read the newspaper,

and catch a nap, 6 feet in front of a Doppler Radar antenna.

There may be a remote fuse as well in one of the fuse blocks... but the Radio itself has one right in the back corner, requiring the radio to be pulled to get access to it.

The special tool to do this is pretty inexpensive as I seem to remember paying less than $10 USD, a few years ago...

And if you consider that Mercedes charges $143.00 to pull it and replace the fuse (although along with this charge they also replaced two dash lamps as well), the price of the tool is a bargain.

You will need to take the car to GM and have it flashed. the radio is vin specific and wont work car to car without reprogramming. if its the original stereo there may be a problem with your BCM

Are you saying that you need to press the knob to hear sound and if you let go you don't hear anything. If that's the case, first thing I need to know is if your radio using the volume button as the power on/off such as turning down the volume or depressing the knob. If this is true (and that's the knob you are refering to) then it could be a loose connection and by pressing the knob you are completing the connection and when released it looses the connection.
