Can you drive with a coil gone and light flashing?
As far as I know you can drive it in for repair when the check engine light is
flashing indicating an engine cylinder misfire . Just avoid any heavy /
rapid acceleration or deceleration because you can damage the catalytic
converter ( P.S. I'm not a mechanic / technician )

Were can i find the Timing marks on a megane 1.5 dci?
The top timing marks (Cam and injection pump) are easy to find. The cam has a hole for a timing pin to be inserted, and a mark on the pulley. Similar for the injection pump, there's a mark on the sprocket. These marks align with factory white marks on the belt (I used a Gates Powergrip one) The bottom pulley is a pig to align, as the serpentine drive belt pulley is not keyed to the crankshaft, so you need to get this off, set the timing at TDC, and MARK EVERYTHING CAREFULLY before removing the old timing belt. Hope this helps, Paul.
How do you replace the rubber mounts on the back of the exhaust on a Renault megane?
hi mate ours went the other day cost 18 pounds for a new one its a metal bracket with rubber in side theres 2 bolts holding it to the under side of the car look on ebay for megane rear exhaust rubber ( they have a strap thing on them ) so you cant just fit any old thing
This is a really easy thing to do.
1st - buy the rubber mounts from ebay. I just bought 5 in a pack for £9 incuding postage
2nd - remove the old one by sliding it off of the metal hanger on the exhaust and then twisting the other end 90 degrees. It will then pull out of the hole.
3rd remove the plastic insert form the old rubber hanger, grease it and slide it into the new one. grease the other end of the rubber mount as well.
4th - slide it back onto the exhaust support first.
5th - twist the other end 90 degrees and push it into the hole in the bracket.
Job done - About 10 minutes
check your fuel line from the tank for any holes and also clean any in line filters on the fuel line

Where is the odb connector 2004 megane?
In the 2004 Renault Megane, the OBD-II (On-Board Diagnostics) connector is typically located under the dashboard on the driver's side. You can usually find it near the steering column, often just above the brake pedal or to the left of the pedals. It's a small, rectangular connector that allows for diagnostics and vehicle inspection.

How do you change a fan belt on a Renault scenic?
8 valves or 16 Valves?
Basically locate the tensioner which is a round black plastic pulley, it should have a 13mm bolt through the middle of which, and an Allen key hole aswell? This hole may also be in the form of a torx ?
There are so many difference types of engine it would be difficult to explain all of them.
On some tensioners you must put your 13mm (long) spanner onto the bolt and lever it toward yourself (from front of vehicle), this will allow slack on the belt, don't let go, have your assistant pull the belt off whilst you hold the tensioner off.
Then simply refit the belt / fit a new one.Dont forget the way it is routed, i.e draw picture of how the belt sits around each pulley.

How To Repair Your Car's Power Windows
By Matthew Keegan As you're driving down the turnpike and approaching the tollbooth, you reach for the switch to lower your window and nothing happens. The switch moves but the window does not budge. Not even a noise from the window motor can be heard which strongly suggests to you that the device is not functioning. You must stop your car and open up the door to pay the attendant before continuing on your trip. Thoughts of an expensive car repair bill are dancing through your head, putting you in a foul mood and tempering the anticipated fun of your getaway weekend. Don't despair: you can repair the power window yourself and save a bundle over expensive dealership charges. Let's take a look at the steps you can take to fix the problem yourself and save a lot of cash in the process. Before assuming that the window regulator must be replaced you should first rule out the possibility of dirty electrical contacts. On most cars the main power for all switches goes through the master switch located at the driver's console. Sometimes the switch is dirty causing the window to malfunction. If this is the case, take the necessary steps to clean the contact and your problem should be resolved. Should you determine that the contacts are clean and your switch is functioning, then it is likely that the motor has burned out and is in need of replacing. Whether you are installing a Honda window regulator or a Volkswagen window regulator, or a regulator for any other make the steps involved in replacing a window regulator are usually quite similar: # Remove the door panel for the affected window. # Locate and remove the bolts holding the regulator to the door; it is likely you will have to manually lower the window in order to access the bolts. # Remove the old regulator, disconnect all wiring, and replace the old regulator with a new one you have purchased from a parts supplier. Shop online to find the best value as you will pay a mint if you order one through a dealership. # Tighten the bolts holding the new regulator and reinstall the moisture barrier. Make sure all the wires are put back in the door before closing the door panel # Engage the power window switch and the new regulator should work unimpeded. Of course, follow your car's repair manual for specific instructions. I've given to you a general outline to convince you that this is a task that even a novice mechanic can handle - in other words: you can do it! By handling the problem yourself, you'll save plenty of money by avoiding garages who will mark up the replacement part as well as tack on several hours of labor costs to your bill. Shop online to compare prices and to receive the best shipping and handling arrangements available.

Renault Megane the coil spring is broken is it easy to replace?
The coil springs are not easy to remove or install. The spring needs to be compressed in order to be removed. It takes several hundred pounds of pressure to compress the spring.
What does it mean when the handbrake and stop symbol flash on the Renault megane dashboard?
It means dont drive your car. There would be a fault within the braking system. It could be simply a case of topping up brake fluid. Use correct grade, the megane scenic uses dot4, I assume the normal megane does too, check tho, it will be imprinted on reservoir cap. It could also be the hand brake sensor faulty. Also check your brake pads and shoes, discs/drums etc.
Hi,
I have just bought a 97 megane with the same problem. Think I found the answer yesterday... as long as you are confident enough to have a go. I shall be tomorrow. The answer I found is:
The whole job took me just under an hour - bearing in mind I am a computer engineer and not a car mechanic and know nothing about Renaults at all..
To prevent this happening to others I have included a very quick guide of what to do if this happens again. I realise this will not fix all Renault hood problems but should at least be tried first and 1 hour labour should do it…
1) Release hydraulics on hood cover by undoing the small tap located in the boot (under left hand carpet in boot)
2) Pull manual release for boot cover - located in the boot area rear seat compartment (Step 1 and Step 2 better documented in the owners manual)
3) With the Hood nearly closed (but with the back window in the air !) and the hood cover opened - by hand, remove the 2 nuts that hold the rear seat onto the rear bulkhead.
4) Now use a star / torque drive to remove the 4 screws that hold the hood release mechanism onto the rear bulkhead.
5) There is no need to disconnect any cables just remove from the cable clips.
6) The release mechanism can now be viewed easily. Look to re-engage the cam that the emergency release cable is attached to into the metal arm that is driven from the worm gear on the motor.
7) May need to engage small micro switches on the mechanism to get the worm gear to operate (do this very carefully and by holding the switches on while operating the hood from inside the cab. (need 2 people for this) Operate the hood only for short 1-second bursts until the worm gear allows the cam to drop easily back into place.
8) All above sounds complicated but actually when you have the mechanism laying in front of you in the hood storage space area its very straight forward and should take 30 - 40 minutes maximum for someone who has seen it once before.
Apparantly, this sounds more complex than it is... will let you know tomorrow!

Firstly thanks for your answer, it was very helpful. But I had problems getting the worm gear motor to activate, I tried different microswitch setting to no avail. In the end I unplugged the wiring plug, and unclipped the other wiring socket from the latch unit. Remove the unit, and then removed the four torx screws holding the motor to the unit, and carefully pulled the motor away about 5mm. this allowed me to re-engage the arm onto the pin. Finally pushing the motor back in place, and carefully retightening the screws. When refitted the roof operated fine, both down and up,and gave no more problems. cheers Barry.
How can you change a 2004 Renault megane front headlight bulb?
Very difficult unless you have very small hands. You need to remove the round plastic cover under the wheel arch by turning it anticlockwise, after turning the steering into a full lock. You then put your hand through the hole, remove another plastic cover, remove the headlight and replace it with the new one. You repeat the same thing on the other side if you are changing both. Dont forget to replace the plastic covers. I would recommend you buy the bulbs from Halfords and pay the extra to have it fitted.... It is well worth it!
How do you depress the piston back on rear brake caliper of a Renault megane?
Remove the caliper from the hub and with either pipe grips or a 12mm spanner on one of the four lobes turn clockwise to screw in, it will only do maybe 1 revolution then tap with a light hammer and do again. This takes ages but stick at it. Strangely both sides are Right Hand threads and you need gap of 40mm from piston to clamp to clear new pads, this was on Megane CC 2006. Andrew H
