If I hear about someone looking for work and I know that person has a clean criminal record, good driving record, will listen to instruction and not try to be a know it all cowboy, I usually approach them. People that call me and ask "are you hiring" I usually figure my competition put them up to doing that to find out who my clients are or how things work inside my company. Best thing to do is either go face to face to the local repo companies or find someone who works for one and get to know him/her. Eventually if you are straight up someone will recommend you. Remember, we carry millions in insurance and cannot afford some idiot that is going to get out insurance canceled, get us sued, cost us a 100K/year client, etc. There is a reason that smart repo companies are careful who they hire.All good answers so far.
