How do you jump start a 2006 Saturn ION?
you can either hook the positive to the red post located by the drivers side strut.. and ground the neg to the strut bolt.. or you can go in the trunk and lift up the floor and boost directly from the battery
How do you replace keyless remote battery on Saturn Ion?
Pop open the remote and change with a 3 volt watch battery. Then press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons while standing near the car. It takes about 10 seconds.
I am getting the EXACT same problems from my 2005 Saturn Ion. Only have 53K on it and having huge problems. I have had the ignition switch and ignition cole replaced. Any help would be great?
Thermostat should be located in the removable housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose Radiator may be clogged or flow restricted the defroster kicks on your electric radiator cooling fan--bypassing your fan relay and temp. switch--so its probably one of those
How do you replace the spark plugs in a 2006 Saturn Ion?

2007 Saturn Ion secondary air injection system pressure switch?
the secondary air injection pressure sensor is built into the air injection control valve located at the rear of the engine compartment just above the exhuast manifold, it reports the air pressure in the air injection line to the ecm, the ecm compares this pressure to barometric pressure to test the air injection system, the test has 3 phases, 1st the pump is turned on with the control valve off and the ecm should see approx +20 kpa above baro sensor, phase 2 pump on, valve open, the ecm should see roughly +10kpa above baro, and phase 3 the pump and valve are both off and should show the same pressure as baro.the air inhection should only operate on a cold engine for roughly 60 seconds.
Where is the slave cylinder on the 2005 Saturn ion redline?

Is there life in Saturn and how could it then have looked like?
Life, as we know it, has never been detected outside Earth. Saturn is a very cold gas giant with no real solid surface(It is primarily made of Hydrogen). Although Saturn has water, which is a substance crucial for life, all of it is in the solid state. This is because the planet is very cold, with surface temperatures reaching as low as -150 degrees Celsius. Wind speeds are extremely high, reaching up to 2000 kph. Therefore, the conditions on Saturn are too harsh for Life to exist.
Why can you not replace just the wheel bearings on a Saturn Ion?
Remove the wheel, the brake caliper, and the brake caliper bracket. Remove the axle nut ( 32mm i believe). remove the 3 bolts on the back of the bearing( next to the axle shaft). Tap the end of the axle back in towards the center of the car, and tap on the hub with a hammer to separate the bearing from the knuckle.
Sounds really involved but I did both sides in about an hour - no alignment is required afterwards, and it is not necessary to remove the ball joint or tie-rod ends as several other posts on the web indicate.
Addendum 12/31/2009 from another user:
The information above is very good, thank you for that. I just did this myself on a 2003 Ion and it went very smoothly. Here is a little more information:
- The axle nut on this car is 30mm. I actually used a 1 3/16" socket (about the same size) because I have one that fits my hefty 3/4" drive breaker bar. The nut wasn't nearly as tight as I thought it would be, but if you are not using an impact wrench, be sure to loosen it first thing with the car resting on the wheel, before you take the wheel off.
- Be ready with a piece of rope or wire to hang the brake caliper after removal. Never let the caliper hang from the hose.
- The hub does indeed have three bolts securing it from the rear, and once removed, it taps off fairly easily. One cautionary note... when the suspension spring was fully extended (ie, the car was jacked up and the wheel removed), I could not get a socket onto the top bolt because the CV joint was in the way. I got around this by putting another jack directly under the ball joint and pushing the hub assembly up, compressing the spring and changing the angle of the CV joint. With much pushing, I was *barely* able to get the socket on and remove the bolt. A good, closed-ended wrench might have sufficed instead but I couldn't find the right size in my toolbox. I was using a 13mm socket.
All things considered, this was the easiest wheel bearing job I've ever done, but certainly the most expensive as well :) To buy the entire hub, it cost me $160 at AutoZone (PA, USA). Good luck!
How do you change the transmission fluid on 2004 Saturn ion?
If you are who I think you are from Fresno. Contact me. I'm hear to help Veena.
Who do you reset the check engine light on 2006 Saturn ion?
The same as any other car. Repair the problem and reset the light with an OBD2 scan tool. You can try disconnecting the negative battery cable for 5 minutes. That may or may not work.
How do you add transmission fluid to a 2003 Saturn Ion?
if it is an automatic you cant yourself it is a closed system. if it is a manual i dont know.
How do you remove ignition switch on a 2003 Saturn ion?
check out the following web site: http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92569 if the link does not work, search the saturnfans.com website for the link. We just replaced one and are hoping it works. We are in the timing-cycle phase of the replacement as I type this.
How do you know what fuse is what?
There should be a "map" under the fuse panel or you can look at your car manual. If this doesn't help, I would try using google to find a diagram.
How do you get copies of keys for a 2006 Saturn Ion?
You have to go to the Saturn (or other GM) dealership to get your key made.
You will need to provide proof of ownership (title) and a photo ID (driver's license). Only the person with his/her name on the title will be able to get the key made.
Why would one spark plug be covered with oil Saturn s-series?
Probably a leaking valve cover gasket. They are pretty simple to install and the part is about thirty dollars. Just make sure the parts dealer gives you the right gasket. Sometimes the plastic valve cover used on these models warps a little from the heat which can make the gasket stop fitting quite right causing oild to leak out. If this has happened, a "liquid gasket" type product may help improve the seal (but make sure to choose a high temperature, oil resistant product).
The blowers on your ford focus do not work on low speed?
heater blower resistor has to be replaced. you have to remove glove boxthe resistor is to the right of the heater blower moter
What has happened is that the copper contact plate that routes/switches the hot lead of the switch to each of the 4 speeds has jumped out of its keyed position on the end of the switch shaft, so when the knob is on position 4 the plate is connecting power to the low speed set of contacts.
I did all the usual troubleshooting of the blower motor, resistor pack, fuses, and relay, all were fine, and narrowed it down to the switch. The reason for the problem was that the round copper contact plate inside the switch had somehow got off the key, and allowed the plate to rotate 90 degrees, thus making the wrong connections.
I fixed the problem by eventually pulling out the HVAC control panel, and implementing the following.
Instructions on how to fix a 2003 Saturn blower control switch;
Find a safe place on a clean bench so you don't loose any parts.
1. Leave the knob attached on the front of the panel so the shaft of the switch does not fall out. It is holding springs, a plastic detent, and a steel contact BB in place, on the inside of the switch. You shouldn't have to remove the shaft. If you do, remember the steel BB goes on the spring on the outside, or larger diameter circle, and the plastic detent goes on the spring on the inner diameter circle. The steel ball is an electrical connection, and the plastic piece is for the detent positions.
2. Remove the 2 screws holding the blower switch in from the back of the panel. Orient the panel face down, and gently pry the 3 tabs open holding the back of the switch to the main control housing.
3. Pull the back of the switch apart slowly, there is a spring and a copper contact plate that will pop up when the switch back is pulled off. Note the position of the coper plate and spring.
4. If the 2 bumps on the contact plate appear clean and have dielectric grease on it, just leave it unless you have some more grease and want to clean the copper contacts.
5. On the end of the main shaft that sticks up inside the switch housing, there are 2 tabs or keys on the end. It is a 2 level double key. If these are broken or worn down so they don't grab the round copper contact plate , YOUR SCREWD, and need another HVAC Fan Control assembly or a good shaft out of another bad unit.
6. If it is still good you should be able to reinstall the spring and copper plate. With the bumps of the plate facing out towards the inside of the back of the the switch housing cover, and the spring on the end of the shaft, place the copper plate onto the keyed shaft while compressing the spring (there's only one way it will go on the larger first level key).
That is the first level keying, push the plate a little further till it goes past the second level of keying and turn the plate 90 degrees (I think it was counter clockwise, if not turn it 90 degrees clockwise). Start releasing the copper plate and it will fall onto the smaller set of keys, and be held in place by the larger first level keys. There is only one way the second level keying will go, because of the different sizes of the two tabs.
7. The spring will be compressed, and the copper plate should feel firmly in place, and rotate with the knob on the front of the shaft. Hopefully it should stay put.
8. Now snap the switch back into place and install the 2 screws. It should be ready to test.
Hopefully this works for you. I just did this repair and have no idea how long it will stay in place. However if the keying is in good shape, and you don't go spinning the dial wildly with great force, hopefully it will last awhile.

Willie The Wizard
