Is it okay to jog in your second trimester?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Yes - it's okay to jog during your second trimester as long as you jogged prior to your pregnancy. Moderate amounts of exercise are encouraged during pregnancy. You can even continue to jog during your third trimester, although it may become more challenging as the baby continues to grow. Make sure you are getting enough fluids before, during and after your run. If anything feels different, make sure you stop running and contact your doctor. In the past, doctors said that your heart rate shouldn't get above 140 bpm during exercise while you are pregnant, but many doctors don't give that metric as advice any more. Just don't overexert yourself.

However, if you have a high risk pregnancy (high blood pressure, placenta previa, pre-term labor) then you should not jog and you should talk to your doctor about about your exercise routine.

Is it normal that mild cramping at four to six weeks pregnant suddenly stopped and is it indicative of a possible miscarriage if the woman has had a prior miscarriage at 7 weeks?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It could mean that you have had a miscarriage, but this is normally accompanied by bleeding and heacier cramping. Everything could be fine, bit with a history of miscarriage I would avoid sex and strenuous physical activity and see your doctor. The doctor can obtain a Quantitative HCG level and then obtain another in a week or so to make sure your HCG level is rising at it should.

How much weight should you gain at 18 weeks of pregnancy?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

How much weight you gain during your pregnancy depends on how much you weighed prior to getting pregnant. If you were at a healthy weight prior to getting pregnant, you should gain 25-35 pounds during pregnancy. This breaks down to 1-5 pounds during the first trimester, and approximately 1 pound a week for the remaining duration of your pregnancy. So, at 18 weeks, you should have gained 6-10 pounds by now.

If you are overweight, you should only gain 15-25 pounds during your pregnancy, if you are obese, you should only gain 11-20 pounds. However, if you are underweight, you should gain 28-40 pounds during your pregnancy. If you are having more than one baby, the amount of weight you should gain is higher. Your doctor will be monitoring your weight gain. If you have any questions or concerns, make sure you discuss it with your doctor at your next appointment.

Should i gain weight?

How to gain weight Weight gain is something that isn't easy to do and you probably know this already. I know first hand because it is something I have to do every day. I am an ectomorph by genetics, which is the "skinny body type" and the one with the fast metabolism which makes gaining so hard for guys like me. The key to weight gain is to do everything BIG. You have to eat big, to lift big, to get big. Say that over and over again in your head until you fully understand it. A lot of people think weightlifting is the key to gaining weight, and I won't argue, it is an extremely important part. BUT, there is another thing that is just as important when it comes to how to gain weight, and that is your diet. So, to put it as simply as possible, there are 5 simple steps to how to gain weight, and here they are: 1) Count how many calories you eat in a normal day. Don't change anything, just eat like you normally would and count how many calories you consumed. This is an extremely important step, so try to be as exact as possible. Also, weigh yourself. 2) Starting the day after you counted calories, eat 500 calories MORE then you normally do. So, lets pretend that the day you counted calories you counted 2000. For the rest of the week, you would now eat 2500 calories a day. Instead of eating 3 big meals a day or eating all day all the time, spread those calories out over 5-6 smaller meals. Eat one meal every 2 and a half to 3 hours. To get big, you have to eat big! Remember that. 3) Weightlifting! Get in the gym and lift! This is another important step to how to gain weight, so make sure you are doing it correctly. For more information on weightlifting workout routines and splits. 4) At the end of that week, weigh yourself. You'll notice you're gaining just after one week! Now, don't expect to see a 10lb increase. Gaining anymore then 1 or 2 pounds a week is unhealthy and means you're putting on way to much fat. So look for 1 or 2 pound gains at the end of the week. Don't sound like much? You can be gaining 5-8 pounds a month! 5) Heres an important one. At some point, you will stop seeing weight gain. At this point, you will have to eat even more. So, when you stop gaining for at least 2 weeks, it means it is time to start eating an extra 250 calories a day. Every time you see you haven't gained weight for at least 2 weeks, add an extra 250 calories.

What is the cause of myometrial contraction in the second trimester pregnancy?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Myometrial contraction during pregnancy can be categorized as:

A. Physiological (Normal)

B. Pathological (abnormal)

C. Drug induced

A. Physiological:

Early pregnancy- up to 28 weeks or so.

a) Asymptomatic localized myometrial contraction (thickening) - considered as of no clinical significance. However, the subject is not studied well to be 100% sure.

b) Normal pregnancy labor contraction.

B. Pathological:

Early pregnancy:

a) Spontaneous abortion (miscarriage) contraction till fetal viability usually up to24 weeks or so.

b) Premature labor contraction (Preterm labor) - usually 24 weeks to 36 6/7 weeks or so.

c) Abnormal uterine contraction: Hyper (excessive) or Hypo tonic (weak) uterine contractions during labor

d) Irregular contractions

C. Drug induced

Many drugs can induce contractions such as Ergometrine, Pitocin, prostaglandin etc.

Intention is usually to mimic physiological contraction.

However, the uterus may not respond or could become excessive in nature, may even rupture the uterus.

Above writing does need further addition or modification.

This is just the starting point.

The best position is the fetal position, curled into a ball. I used to use that position when I was growing up. Never flat on your back or stomach. Hoped that helped.

Is ganoderma safe to be used at the time of conceiving and throughout pregnancy ie right from first trimester to the deliveryif one has been taking ganoderma for past 1year?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

From what I've read, ganoderma is safe and actually positive for your pregnancy up to about three weeks before delivery and three weeks after delivery. And I quote: "...the fungus insignificantly dilutes blood and it is not recommended to take its products 3 weeks before and 3 weeks after operations and deliveries. Dilution is not very noticeable in everyday life - even after a cut and it is in no way dangerous to life."

Because we are at a higher risk of clotting during pregnancy because our blood is thicker, I can see how this wouldn't be an issue until one was close to their delivery date. Other than that, ganoderma has no known side effects, and has proven to be a healthy supplement for both mommy and baby. :)
