Singing

Some unhappy, benighted people, especially in America, hold that singing is irreverent. They also seem to believe that anything pleasant or enjoyable must be sinful. There is no scriptural basis for this ignorant belief, and indeed the Bible makes it abundantly clear that music, both vocal and instrumental, is a form of worship. See the Book of Psalms.

Soap operas do not have to have singing. However, if an actor has singing talent, that may be written in to the script. Rick Springfield used to sing on his soap. Sometimes a show will serve as a showcase for aspiring music acts. Guiding Light featured a number of groups, including the B-52's when one of the characters owned a club.
