Sometimes it is really difficult to tell. There is often a slighly sunken area across where the positive would be that can cast a shadow, and you are not the first one to do a great deal of peering and wondering! Hold the test so there is as little shadow as possible on it or use a torch. As a last resort, you can carefully take the test apart and find the actual test strip. Usually though, even a faint positive is able to be distinguished as such. Retest in a couple of days with a fresh test if it still is a mystery.

I'm 10 weeks pregnant today and I've been spotting brown for about a week. It also happened a week prior to me finding out I was pregnant. I started to get scared because the first time it happen, was the morning after i had intercorse with my husband. I called my doctor right away. He told me it was normal. so I felt better but then it kept on happening and i panic. I called him again and he told me to take it easy and it be wise to be on bed rest until we figure out what was going on. He thought it might be the beginning of a miscarrige. But the thing with spotting is that there's no sure way to tell if it's normal or not. You just have to wait it out and see if is a miscarrige it will happen no matter what you do to try to avoid it. I had a sonogram at the doctor and he wasn't able to find the baby's heart beat and of course i got scared. He sent me to the hospital to get another sonogram, thank God they found the heart beat. I've noticed that being off my feet has really helped minimizing the spotting. Now the spooting is almost gone. I pray to God my baby will be okay. Oh! about the tender breasts, mine were really sore at the beginning and then the soreness was gone at about seven weeks gestation.

THis blood is usually no enough to just flow down so it usually comes down with some vaginal discharge and when the blood is all so that is why is brown. However, if the bleeding follows with bright blood or clotting blood. It becomes heavy, like it wets your underwears and your clothes. YOu should go to the emergency room right away. I am in my eighth week right now and I noticed a fairly dramatic change (in about a day) in the way my breasts felt. Before they felt like an electric current was running through them and even the slightest touch was excruciatingly SORE. I woke up "next day" with near to no pain or soreness, and have been like this ever since (only an occasional feeling of warmth there). Doctor's office says not to worry about it as everything had looked real good at my check-up the prev week. So maybe we are not freaks and the breasts do "Calm Down" a bit around week 8, even though the books say not to expect that till about the end of first trimester. Actually, we have a Physiology textbook here and there's a graph showing different hormones in preg. hCG does this big spike at the beg, peaking at about Week 10, then drops equally dramatically. My doctor's office said I passed "the big surge" now (I guess the slope is less near the top of the peak), plus your body really begins to adjust to these new levels of things. Anyhow, for me I have no cramping and still suffer greatly from THIRST, which is the thing I've noticed most so far. I'm hoping that these signs mean the quieter breasts are okay, not the end of the world. Do you still have any other pregnancy signs? Do you have an ultrasound appointment yet? Try to keep busy and GOOD LUCK. I think you and I both need to remember that nature is taking its course and - as long as we are looking after ourselves and following doctor's orders - there is really little else we can do.
