What is the background on the Russian revolution?

Background to the Russian Revolution is huge, however, mainly caused by massive discontent in the Nation. Led by an Autocratic, inefficient system, (where corruption and violence was extremely evident);

-peasants went without bread, land and fell into huge debts due to redemption payments,
-middle class pushed for a democracy so that they could have their say as to how to run the country, instead they lived with oppression and censorship,
-industrialists had to work long hours with low pay and poor living conditions The catalyst for the Russian 1905 'revolution' would be Bloody Sunday. A oeacful protest turned horribly wrong when (supposedly) the Tsar ordered the Military to fire upon men, women and children who asked only for bread and better living conditions. After a revolt, the Tsar issued the October Manifesto. This offered hope and promise to the people. However, a year later the Tsar practically withdrew his promises, letting the Nation down and causing the 1917 revolution that would change how the Nation would run forever. That's just the basic background to the Revoluntion/s.

Was Anna Anderson telling the truth?

Probably not. Anne Anderson was likely not telling the truth when she claimed to be the Grand Duchess Anastasia of Russia. She was considered an impostor, after a private investigation was undertaken, was shown to be lying. Numerous lawsuits later, the German courts ruled her as claiming falsehoods. Later in 1991, the bodies of Tsar Nicholas II, Tsarina Alexandra, and three of their daughters were recovered in a mass grave near Ekaterinburg. DNA tests of the bodies, as well as some strands of hair from Anne Anderson, were made and showed that she had no blood-relation to any member of the Romanov family.

There is speculation, however, that she may have been telling the truth. There have been published articles, some of which were professionally backed, that casts doubt on the legitimacy of the DNA tests, claiming the evidence was tampered and potentially contaminated. Additionally, there have been numerous reports of professional anthropologists, along with some of the royal descendants of the Romanov family themselves, who claimed to believe Anderson's story. There are many discrepancies and unusual aspects of the Anna Anderson case, so no definite answer can be given. Nonetheless, the current verdict is that she lied.

Why did Grand Dutchess Anastasia dia?

She was killed by the Bolshiveks/communists/military to anihilate the Romanov Family who had ruled Russian for hundreds of years. She was married to the ruling Romanov and they did not want her to produce any more Romanov's or take over the throne. The Russians wanted freedom from the Romanov rule.

____

No.. Anastasia was not married to anyone, let alone the ruling Romanov - who was Nicholas her father.

The entire Romanov family was murdered by the local Bolshevik leader. It had nothing to do with not wanting her to produce heirs. The Bolsheviks were afraid the Allied armies and White Russian army were going to liberate the family and use them to mobilise support to over throw the Communist government.

FYI Nicholas and Alexandra were married, Anastasia was one of the daughters.
