  1. No other country in the world has harbored such thorough militarism nor fielded such splendid armies (except perhaps France under Napoleon) nor won such sweeping military campaigns. Nor has any other country ever suffered such total defeat. Germany lost both of the world's 2 global wars-but unlike the majority of her conquerors, it arose each time mightier after defeat than before, reconquering economically the countries which it could not defeat militarily.
  2. Germany has a special banking arm of the Government which enforces a policy of "Equalization of burdens." Accordingly, if someone had his house destroyed during the war he was entitled to credit for rebuilding. Those whose structures were spared had to pay a special "tax" to establish capital for those who needed to rebuild.

Wind blows your basketball system on car in the street who is liable?

The liability would likely depend on the specific circumstances and local laws. In general, if your basketball system was not properly secured and it caused damage, you may be held responsible. However, if the wind was unusually strong and unanticipated, liability could be more complex. It is recommended to check with your insurance company or legal advisor for guidance.

What type of situations or places are women the most comfortable and the least standoffish when a guy hits on them?

It isn't the place so much as the bad lines guys can come up with. Just be yourself and don't go for the "cool" stuff to say. Don't become a rolling drunk and be obnoxious. If you like a girl walk up to her or sit beside her at a bar (if she's alone) and strike up a conversation. Be pleasant and ask about her. Most women don't like the guy that looks like he's been around the block a few times; thinks he knows everything about women; has a snappy line to give or is all over her and is controlling. A confident man can come in and you can smell it off him, so if you aren't super confident don't even try to be. Many women like shy men or men that you can talk about anything with. Here's a good tip ... women like to talk and we like men to know we have brains and we aren't a "girl toy" for every guy that comes around. Most women are onto guys more in this generation so you've got your work cut-out for you. Also, realize that women are more cautious about their safety, so take it slow and easy getting to know her and if you like her and she seems interested get her phone # and go out on a real date. Good luck Merry Christmas Marcy I disagree Marcy! The place or situation is VERY important. For example, a women would be very uncomfortable if you approached her on the street when it's dark out. Of course you are right, but I was thinking of "places to meet women" as the poster had instructed. I think most of us don't want to meet anyone alone or on a dark street. Thanks for bringing it up and one can never be too safe. Merry Christmas Marcy

Why would your 1989 Crown Victoria 5.8 V8 sometimes jerk at weird speeds?

I would suggest checking or replacing the catalytic converters. Even with single exhaust, you should still have two -- one from each side of the engine. Anyway, when they get old or bad or clogged, they car becomes "constipated" and it can't expel the exhaust and the whole car jerks. Depending on how badly clogged the converters are, the amount of jerking will vary. You will also notice the jerking is intermittent -- there will be more jerking at higher RPMs because there will be more exhaust trying to escape due to higher output. Replace both catalytic converters and the problem should be gone. This happened to me, so I'm speaking from experience. **NOTE: if you're nearing the time to renew your car's registration, take it to have the emissions inspected before you replace the converters. Since your car is basically contipated, your emissions output will be low since most of the waste is being kept in the engine and exhaust system rather than being expelled out the tail pipe into the air. You might also have the transmission checked... I have a '94 and it will downshift a lot of times for no apparent reason whatsoever. I know it's the transmission I'm not certain exactly what the problem is though. My trany shuttered on my 1995 vicky, and then my check engine light came on. When it was put on a computer, it showed a "bad shift solonoid". It is mounted on the outside of the transmission. I would have that checked for any shifting problems. My P71 did this and I had the MAF Sensor replaced. It fixed the problem right away. My jerking problem had nothing to do with the tranny. Mine would jerk and sometimes felt like it down shifted. I would go with the MAF Sensor.
