Which way do the cams line up on 1.8 16v ecotec vectra?
There are two cam pulleys on cylinder head each pulley has two marks Exhaust and Intake , the left pulley is for intake cam so intake mark should face the plastic valve cover notch (cylinder head cover) , the right pulley mark (exhaust) , should face the other notch , crank pulley faces the needle . I hope it may help
Start the answer off. It's probably the idle control valve that needs replacing. It's a silver cylindrical device near that's easily replaced yourself. You can get a new one for about £120 from Vauxhall or a second hand one for about £20-30 from a scrappy.

How do you CHANGE vectra 2.2 water pump?
1. Hold the Water Pump sprocket in position using the aperture
in the front cover.
2. Remove:
a. Upper Timing Cover
b. Manifold Heat Shield
c. Oxygen Sensor Wiring Harness Plug
d. Auxiliary Belt
3. Release water pump drain plug and drain.
4. Disconnect wiring harness plug from temperature sensor
and remove water hose from thermostat housing and heater
hose from the radiator.
5. Remove from water pump.
6. Remove the water pump service hatch.
7. Attach the Water pump holding tool (Laser Tools do one, as do Snap-on)with two of the service cover bolts in the outer slotted holes.
8. Secure the tool to the water pump sprocket using the 3
internal bolts.
9. Tighten to ensure tool is fitted securely.
10. Remove the bolts holding the Water Pump to the sprocket.
The engine timing is maintained as the timing chain is
securely fixed to the pump sprocket.
11. Remove the Water Pump.
12. Replace the Water Pump, refit the bolts retaining the pump
to the sprocket and remove the holding tool.
13. Re-assemble components in reverse order.
How do you change the Water Pump in a 1996 Holden Vectra?
Well, it needs alot of handy work , I had such problem few months ago ,
I own an Opel Vectra 1.8 twin cam , I hope it's the same , any way follow the following steps:
1 .Unscrew the right tyre , pull out the plastic shield over the tyre ,pullout main belt by loosen tensioning roll , use a 15mm spaner or socket on roll bolt and rotate it clockwise , you will need a help from someone to pull the belt out .
2 .Unscrew all necessary bolts (including 3 bolts of upper engine mount), so that the timing cover can be free for 2 10mm screws to be opened , pull out the timing cover .
3 .Pull out the timing belt by unscrewing timing tensioning roll as well.
4 . Look forward the engine from opened tyre point of view , you could see the pulley of the water pump a little to the left nearly close to alternator .
5 . Use Allen key of 10mm to unscrew the 3 bolts around circumference of water pump, PAY ATTENSION , WATER PUMP ACCEPTS NEARLY ANY ANGLE WHEN INSTALLED BACK , so mark the angle since water pump is rounded and not centric and may cause timing belt not installed again .
6 . Use sandpaper to clean water pump cavity .
7 . It would be better to use a thin film of sillicone thermal paste around cavity circuference.
8 Check the new water pump , and the rubber washer around it , install it on cavity carefully , try to press it into cavity by hand , then leave the rest to screws , never forget the mark .
9 . Reinstall timing belt and carryout timing adjustment , upper left cam pulley mark (intake mark) is up pointing to the plastic valve cover notch , right cam pulley mark (exhaustmark) , is pointing to another upper plastic cover notch , crank pulley is pointing to the needle .
Have fun
Open the bonnet and to the left your see the air filter box follow intake pipes till you see a cable that runs to the intake manifold its there
Sounds to me the cambelt tensioner has weakened causing a rattle sound around 2000-3000 rpm
How do you take of a gear knob of a vauxhall vectra 06?
It's a press-fit onto the lever. Generally it takes so much force to pull/twist it off the lever that the mechanism lower down holding the lever in place will break before you pull/twist hard enough to remove the knob.
To remove it to replace it with a different knob, use a hack-saw, and cut it in half, taking care not to cut the lever or other items.

Does 1.9cdti sri vectra have markings for reversing sensors?
The 1.9 CDTi SRI Vectra may not come with factory-installed markings for reversing sensors, as it often depends on the specific model and year. However, many aftermarket reversing sensor kits can be installed on vehicles that don't have them as standard. Check the vehicle's manual or consult a dealer to confirm the presence of any factory options related to reversing sensors.
Sounds like the filter is blocked for the washer bottle. Remove the NSF inner wheel arch cover, pull out the pump from the reservoir and clean the filter.
How do you Fit rear brake pads to fiat stilo?
Hello, Can be a bit of a pain but is do-able!! You need a caliper re-setting tool to screw the piston back into the caliper to give enough room for the new pads to fit in. The tool is only threaded in one direction so will only work on the drivers side caliper, the passenger side takes patience and brute force. Jack up the car and use axle stands to be safe, chock the three wheels you are not working on and release the hand brake and remove the wheel. Also unscrew the lid on the brake fluid reservoir to allow pressure to escape. There are two bolts at the back of each caliper, remove these and keep safe. The caliper should now slide off the disc leaving the pads in place in their holders. Using a flat blade screwdriver taking care not to damage the disc prise the old pads out of their holders. There will be two retaining clips on each pad, take note of which way round these fit and keep safe if they come off. Once the old pads are out, clean the caliper and area using a stiff bristled brush. Once clean you can start to put the new pads in. First you will need to push the piston back into the caliper, using the piston reset tool turn the piston clockwise (for drivers side) or anti-clockwise (for passenger side, for this side you will have to rely on brute force as the tool is only threaded for drivers side) being careful not to pinch the seal whilst doing so. Replace the retaining clips to their original position, apply some copper grease to the back of the new pads being careful not to get any on the braking surface or the disc and ease the pads into place. Then slide the caliper back over the pads and replace the bolts making sure they are tight. (it might be an idea to re-check these after a couple of days after fitting to make sure they are tight enough). Re-fit the wheel, apply handbrake, lower the car, re-fit brake fluid reservoir cap and start the engine. Pump the brakes a couple of time to take up the play between the caliper and pads, then its time for a test drive.

Where is the oil filter on vauxhall vectra 1.9 cdti 2007?
Hi, just done a service on my 2006 1.9cdti. The oil filter is directly below the fuel filter housing. It has a plastic cap that has a bolt pattern on it, this takes a very large socket(I had an old 1"1/4 drive that fitted) probably a 32 or 34mm socket. Once you have it loose it is very easy to change. Beware of spillage when dong this job!
Can you start the car after it went through flood water?
depends
if the water got into the air intake it may have been drawn into the pistons in this case when you turn the engine over the water will not compress as the piston rises and you may damage the engine
best bet on a petrol is remove spark plugs and turn it over manually if no water is visible in the plug holes then turn over on starter motor
with a diesel you have to remove the injectors
this is worse case you may be lucky
best of luck
